Berkshire bird enthusiasts are celebrating following Wokingham council's decision to grant planning permission for a new log cabin at a bird sanctuary, the Reading Post reported today.
The new hide will be situated at Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst, which covers a range of habitats including lakes, rivers, and meadows attracts a variety of waterfowl.
Previous applications submitted to the council by Friends of Lavell's Lake (FOLL) had been rejected because of disagreement about a proposed security fence around the building.
Instead of the fence, which the council felt was out of character with its surroundings, bushes will be planted around the building to secure the hide.
Chairman of FOLL Fraser Cottington told the Reading Post: "We are very excited, but we have just got to sort out a few landscaping aspect conditions within the planning application to make sure there is no unnecessary aesthetic impact on the site from the hide being there."
