A historic booklet containing details of a famous Suffolk garden has been unearthed in a garden shed, Culture24 reported yesterday (November 2nd).
The notebook, which contains details of what the garden was like in the past and where plants were sited, was found in the shed at the National Trustīs Ickworth estate in Suffolk.
Now head gardener Sean Reid hopes to use the find to help reconstruct lost features and original elements of the estate garden, which was laid out by the famous eighteenth-century garden designer Capability Brown.
Reid told Culture24: "This is just the most fantastic find for us, I really canīt describe what it feels like to have stumbled across this piece of Ickworthīs history."
"Any gardener would kill for this kind of information. Itīs amazing to think itīs just been sitting there all these years."
People who are investing in a garden shed may want to consider the functional and attractive Woodford Classic design which would fit in well in any garden and ensure that their hidden treasures last the course.
