An exhibition in Copenhagen of works by Russian graphic artist Nikolai Bestuzhev celebrates the beauty of industrial buildings, the Russia Times reported this week.

His drawings for the “shadows of the city“ exhibition at the Copenhagen Loft Club celebrate the industrial architecture of Russia“s commercial structures, such as chimneys, factories, workshops and sheds.

Many of the Russian capital“s industrial buildings have been destroyed, often to make way for homes and offices.

He told the newspaper: "When I was a child, I walked through the old factories, and I was charmed by the view of the gasholders.

"They seemed so intriguing to me. With my paintings, I wanted to show monumental industrial objects as they really are."

Earlier this month, the Times reported on a number of industrial buildings which have been successfully transformed into living spaces, including a Sussex mill and a bunker in north London.
