Garden sheds may be one of the most practical additions to a garden, but there is no reason why they cannot be a centre of creativity too.
While summerhouses may be increasing in popularity, cheap sheds are arguably just as versatile because not only can they store tools and garden furniture, but they can also be used as a place to seek inspiration.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the shed-inspired artwork of Damien Hirst, who has developed his painting during the past two years in his Devon garden shed, the Guardian reports.
Hirst told the newspaper that "with practice, you can make great paintings", and the perfect place for him to do so is in his shed.
Perhaps it´s the solitude and the peace and quiet that makes a shed´s working environment so appealing, with author Roald Dahl another famous figure who spent hours in his shed.
Those thinking of a investing in a shed have a number of options to choose from, from corner sheds to summer buildings.
