Hanging the tools up in the garden shed for the day and heading out to a plant fair can be a source of inspiration, it has been claimed.
Writing for the Telegraph, Ursula Buchan states that in order to get a fresh perspective people can benefit from attending one of the many plant fairs that arise throughout the year.
The events occur mostly in the gardens or parks of large country houses, said Ms Buchan, many of which are already open to the public.
"Plant fairs are usually organised by specialist nursery owners, who get together with other like-minded enthusiasts, to sell the kind of plants you won't see in many garden centres, at reasonable prices and with the added bonus of expert advice thrown in," she said.
"And they make really pleasant days away from the garden."
Meanwhile, people have been advised to go through the tools in their garden sheds before hitting the outdoors this spring, in a bid to ensure everything is in working order.
