Homeowners who are keen to do their bit for the environment can do so with their garden sheds.
According to Lucy Siegle, writing in the Guardian, there are a number of methods people can follow to live more eco-friendly lives, particularly when it comes to saving water.
At present, just 30 per cent of people in London use water meters compared with 98 per cent in New York.
While some may be indifferent to fitting water meters, there are simple steps they can take to make more efficient use of water.
"Opportunities for water conservation are everywhere. If you have a garden shed, install guttering to direct the run-off water into a water butt," she stated.
Those who want to go a step further could do what Knutsford resident Tim Massey did recently and build a garden shed from recycled materials.
The Knutsford Guardian reported that it took nine months to complete and is used as a place to relax.
