Consider Before Buying Garden Sheds

Hi, I'm Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings, and I use my expertise gained over 39 years in the garden buildings industry to understand that each customer is different. With my manufacturing, retailing and customer service experience my articles help people choose their ideal shed, garden workshop, summerhouse, log cabin or garden office needs to suit their requirement and that is key to satisfaction. And what do I do when I'm not writing? You may find me following Grimsby Town Football Club or riding roller coasters - so plenty of 'ups and downs' in my life.

After a fire in Wrexham, Wales, the importance of keeping garden sheds secure has been raised again. After arsonists has set a shed on fire and torched it to the ground the gas cylinder which was inside meant that 10 houses had to be evacuated. The local paper, the Daily Post, reported this story a while ago stressing the need for common sense.

Residents were let back into their homes after about 40 minutes, which was not too back, but still a little upsetting and unnerving. Besides the dangers of preventing fires the issue of making sheds secure against potential burglars is also paramount as well as ensuring the sheds are fit for purpose.

If you are thinking of putting expensive, dangerous or possibly hazardous materials in your shed then a structure such as the SafeStore or Trimetals steel shed would be a good option. Another building to consider is a concrete shed which is probably the best option for inflammable items.

Only last month Avon and Somerset Police, which was formed to cover the non-metropolitan county of Somerset, along with Bristol and parts of South Gloucestershire, highlighted the importance of securing bikes following a spate of thefts in the area. Six mountain bikes were found in the possession of a 21 year who was arrested.

It's important that any gas containers are kept upright and away from any flammable materials. Better still is to keep them in a purpose built garden shed to save any risk to life and limb.
