12×7 Summer Houses ‘Jack of All Trades’ & ‘Master of Many’
Looking out over the last few weeks this winter with the more traditional weather with heavy snow and freezing conditions it seems hard to comprehend that over the last few years sheds, summerhouses and log cabins sales have been increasing. Whilst it easy to visualise a log cabin set in a snowy background it’s hard to remember being out in the garden using the summer house and having barbecues. However the 12×7 shed summerhouse has evolved from being a ‘one use’ garden building and encompasses a great range of uses. The main use, which should go without saying, is for sitting out and enjoying the warm sun though the summer months. You will find now that the summerhouse is being roped in for general garden storage as the more modern houses tend to have smaller gardens. This means there is a choice to make – whether to have a garden shed OR a summerhouse – and the summerhouse is ticking a lot of boxes for many people.
The problem with this is that the summerhouse will end up full of garden and household items, many of which are just in case, and that the summerhouse becomes a glorified shed. Much as many garages are used for. Where as garages were meant for cars (surprise, surprise) they tend to be filled up with all sort of clutter and with the poor car left outside.
With garden sheds and summer houses starting at a few hundred pounds the demand for summerhouses in the thousands have been increasing due to the virtues of these versatile buildings being recognised. Some summerhouses with double glazing, internal partitions, fancy Georgian windows and balconies can cost many £1000’s but the beauty of the summer houses at 1st Choice Leisure Buildings is that they can be made to your EXACT requirements and will fit that gap, even 12ft x 7ft, you have got and even with a tool shed attached.
Even B&Q are selling garden sheds and summerhouses at over £1000 it was reported. A spokesperson from B&Q said that ‘more and more people are trying to increase the available personal space in their homes’. They further said that ‘the addition of greenhouses, or working from our garden sheds or relaxing in summerhouse was an increasing trend’.
The main thing to consider is to actually view the product you are thinking of buying as the web, good as it is, doesn’t not normally give you an opportunity. This means that you don’t know how good – or in many case how bad – your buy is. I have been in some of the large DIY chains and they have had garden shed out of reach for you to touch. They look good from a distance but close up ??
Forward looking retailers invest in a display area to show their products as they have the confidence in their products. This means you can go in their summer house and garden sheds and push against the walls or jump on their floors and YOU make the judgement about what great value they are. You always need to remember that low prices does not mean great value. 1st Choice Leisure Buildings has display sites near Guildford and Farnham. Added to that they have been in business since 1979 and have a great number of very happy customers.
Experts, such as the Future Foundation, claim that this growth in outdoor living in garden sheds and summerhouses has occurred because of the need for more living space. The use of the garden is a logical step to take.
Walking to London from Newcastle with Lawn Mower
The job of the 12×7 garden shed is to be filled with equipment to help keep an outdoor space neat and tidy and usually is indispensable for the garden. The trusty lawn mower spends most of its life it there but research has shown that the male gender treads a massive amount of miles cutting their lawns. All in the call for a quiet life from their other halves. It’s claimed by Honda Lawnmowers that men will walk an average of 220 miles per year, about the same as completing the London Marathon 8 times or walking from Newcastle down to London.
The head of marketing, Martin Mill, for Honda Lawnmowers, said: “It is remarkable that mowing the lawn can mount up to such a huge figure over the course of a lifetime’.
Garden Sheds, Workshops and Summerhouses available in sizes 12 x 7 and larger to suit you. “Mowing over 200 miles will certainly keep you fit and many people find cutting the grass therapeutic or soothing.” It also found that 40% of men consider mowing to be a man’s job and I would assume the women’s job to be the cleaning an cooking.
A third of men also admitted that every time they cut the grass, they do it in the same way.
The Royal Horticultural Society advises lawns are best mowed at regular intervals – in the summer as often as twice a week. However, it is important to ensure that the lawnmower is kept clean and prepared for the next cutting session. This can then be stored in the garden shed nice and dry for its next job.
