The British as gardeners and garden shed lovers, who sometimes invest in a log cabin kit, spend a great deal of time researching their hobby besides the time spent in the garden. To many the planning of the garden it the best part of this leisure pursuit. Whether it is because they can put their feet up, often on a comfy chair in their garden shed, or whether they can dream unrealistic dreams is not clear. What is clear is that for just a few pounds and some work in the garden you can have a display to be proud off.
The great thing about this is that every garden in unique, from the plants and shrubs around the garden, to the size and shape of the lawn. This follows through to the type of garden building in the garden, whether it is grand summerhouse, a versatile workshop, a hard working garden shed, log cabin shed kit or just a little garden tool store. Every one is different and every one of these gardens are loved for this reason and because it is yours.
Every year there are many garden shows where the latest gardening gadgets for your piece of ‘our green and pleasant land’ can be viewed. Besides the very latest pieces of equipment there are masses of plants, shrubs, trees and garden displays to view which will whet your appetite. And usually there will be a range of the latest summer houses, possibly log cabin shed kits and garden buildings of all sorts – but this usually will be at the top end of the price bracket as it is expensive to display at these shows. I.e. If you can afford your own ‘duck house’ with moat then you will have a great deal to choose from.
You often find there will be many talks from some of the many gardening experts who can give great advice and also plant seeds in your mind for your garden. Always worth making the effort to spend this time because you are able to put your feet up for a little while (that’s how I see it but I am getting a little older) as well as getting new ideas for your garden.
The Wrest Park Garden Show is on most years in May and is an ideal place for garden enthusiasts to examine the latest new products and gardening tools for your garden sheds and log cabins. This garden show in Bedfordshire normally has a range of exhibitions covering all aspects of the garden. It is home to such items as water features, wildlife photography, birthstone jewellery, garden plants and all things dedicated to gardening.
In earlier years there were talks by Graham A Pavey, (nominee for the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Florist of the Year in 2010) Clare Allen and Barry Timms, all gardening experts in their own field, who held hosting talks throughout the show.
Besides those experts and garden display there were also floral displays showing off roses and bonsai respectively. As it normal, at many of these country shows, specialist food producers displayed their range of wares. And some of the items on display were handmade farmhouse cheese, jams (made to special recipes) and as well as chutney. Delicious strawberries and cream and the usual coffee and teas were also available for weary visitors. It can be hard work trudging around the display of flowers and going in and out the smart garden sheds and summerhouses.
After earlier shows exhibitors thanked the organisers for the beautiful settings, stating they had done well and the good organisation was great. These exhibitors also included showcase antiques, garden furniture and garden tools which all can be stored in a garden shed as well as suppliers of log cabin kits. Many of the visitors also take the opportunity to explore the 18th century garden and grounds of Wrest Park which has features such as a bath house as well as a Chinese bridge.
