12 Great Reasons For Choosing Garden Rooms or Offices For Your Surrey Home
1/ Working from home in Surrey eliminates the daily commute and is one of several reasons to consider a garden office. This setup can be more enjoyable and foster greater creativity, as you start the day with a clear mind rather than feeling exhausted from travel. Reliable internet lets you connect to your office seamlessly, making video conferences with colleagues straightforward. A garden office also supports a better work-life balance, giving you more time with loved ones. However, maintaining discipline with your work hours is important. Dress comfortably, but avoid working in nightwear.
2/ A Surrey garden room is the answer to the above working dream. And with a dedicated garden room, you can keep your work and domestic life separate. You may even consider an outdoor room in your garden for your leisure activities, such as a garden gym or a space for your hobby, craft, or other projects on the go, where you can organise your space and spread out. Any of these choices will help remove clutter from your home and help it run more efficiently.
3/ Moving away from the house is always a good thing, so that the day-to-day activities, such as eating, laundry, and watching TV, are moved out of range. The separation helps to keep everything on an even keel and stops you going barmy. Being under the family’s feet indoors can be a recipe for discord – being in your own little garden office room, you can feel in control of your destiny.
4/ At any time of the year, you can make the decision to take control of your life, but quite often, just after the New Year, it seems to be the time for a change in your life and working arrangements. One of the beauties of wood, and this is why I have been in this business for over 47 years, is that it is a natural product which makes you feel good about yourself. It boosts your spirits and body far more than a concrete, brick or steel building ever can. It’s much nicer than an air-conditioned office block, which can cause stuffiness and a dry throat. With your own garden home office, you control the working environment and the temperature. Would you like some fresh air? Then you can open the window to suit YOU. Try doing that in an office block. Even if you could, you won’t be popular.
5/ Modern garden rooms can be surprisingly inexpensive if you take into account the benefits they can provide for you. Small garden offices often provide that bit of space you need to function perfectly. And even the larger, fully insulated building will be much cheaper than the equivalent home extension. Also, they are far easier to plan for and implement. With just the time a normal house extension takes to get planning permission in Surrey, you could have a new, delightful office in place. That’s got to be worth considering.
6/Whereas you can work from home for your employer, the benefits multiply if you are self-employed or run a small business from home. Check out the cost of renting an office against buying your own office in your garden, including running costs. The difference is amazing. And when you have bought your new building, there is no rent to pay each month, so it doesn’t affect your bottom line. Quite possibly, just the first year’s savings from a rented small office may pay for your new Surrey building.
7/ All of our Royal, Fleet & Odiham insulated garden rooms are fully insulated and include double-glazed doors and windows as standard. This will help keep costs down if you currently work from home, as your central heating can be turned down (but not if your partner is indoors, if you know what is good for you). Your new building will be lovely and warm in the winter and cooler in the summer, enabling you to work efficiently. Lower heating bills have to be a good thing.
8/ Besides using your new insulated garden building as an office, it can be used for many other functions. So if your plans change, it could become a garden gym or playroom. Or why not consider one of these modern buildings with multiple rooms in the first place? One room could be your office, while the other rooms could be used for other purposes. Maybe as a garden office, a workshop, or a hobby room. By combining all these rooms into one, you can have a more pleasing timber building in your Surrey garden, as well as being a cheaper option than buying several buildings. We also offer coloured finish option as well.
9/ The bottom line behind any purchase is how cost-effective it will be for you. That is one of the first rules for successful businesses. If your business is VAT-registered, you can normally claim VAT back on your purchase. It can get a little involved with tax and capital allowances, so it’s often a good idea to chat to your accountant to ascertain the best route to go down. It might be an idea for you to charge rent to your business for the use of your new insulated garden room for all business purposes. Again, your accountant should help you onto the right road.
10/ Always take the time to go and see various garden rooms and offices before making a decision. By driving from Surrey down to the 1st Choice Garden room show site (the showrooms have nearly 80 different garden buildings on display), you can walk inside, which should help you decide if the building is right for you. Talk to our garden room advisors, who will be happy to answer all your questions.
11/ Previous customers’ views are so important, so always take a look at what they are saying. Take a look at the feedback from our customers from Google, Trust Pilot and WhiteSpark. Sometimes we don’t get it 100% right the first time (but we try the very best to ensure we do), but we always follow through to ensure the best outcome for our customers.
12/ This brings us back to why you should be choosing a new garden room for your Surrey home. Keeping your home life and work in balance is key, as well as saving time and money. But there is nothing which beats owning your little world and sitting with nature in your garden. This is why you should consider the features that are important to you, the size of your new contemporary garden room, and the general layout that suits you. Do not rush this decision – talk to the experts and go view some examples of the building. Only by doing this can you appreciate the quality (or otherwise) and what your expectations should be. Don’t lower your expectations – only buy the building which is right for you. Or choose a bespoke garden room just for you.
