Clockhouse Log Cabins
Clockhouse Garden Cabins

Our Clockhouse log cabins combine distinctive pavilion-style design with practical garden space for relaxing, entertaining, hobbies or working from home.

The projecting roof detail, generous glazing and balanced frontage make a Clockhouse cabin particularly attractive where appearance matters as much as usable space. Optional cabin assembly is available on suitable models.

I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings, and I’ve worked with garden buildings since 1979. Browse the Clockhouse cabins below or compare our wider log cabins and garden log cabins.

What Is a Clockhouse Log Cabin?

A Clockhouse log cabin is a timber garden building recognised by its distinctive projecting roof and balanced, pavilion-style frontage. Compared with a straightforward rectangular cabin, the Clockhouse design adds architectural character while retaining a practical enclosed room for relaxing, entertaining, hobbies, or working from the garden.

The style works especially well when the building will be a visible feature of the garden. Generous glazed doors and windows provide natural light and garden views, while the Clockhouse roof detail gives the building its characteristic appearance.

Choosing the Right Clockhouse Log Cabin

My advice is to begin with how you intend to use the room rather than simply choosing the largest Clockhouse cabin that will fit. A couple of comfortable chairs require much less floor space than a sofa, dining table, desk, hobby equipment or a combination of different uses.

Measure the furniture you expect to put inside and allow enough room to move comfortably around it. Also check the complete external dimensions, including roof projections, and leave sensible access around the cabin for assembly, inspection and future timber maintenance.

If you are still comparing size, construction, insulation, glazing, roof style and other specifications, our log cabin buyer’s guide explains the main points worth considering before choosing your cabin.

Compare Our Clockhouse Cabin Models

A compact 44mm garden log cabin supplied and installed for one of our customers in Epsom. This Trentan Knaphill was specified with roof and floor insulation and guttering to create a practical garden room for more comfortable use throughout the year.
Trentan Clockhouse log cabin
Our hard-working installers were recently in Epsom to build this Trentan Knaphill log cabin for one of our customers. Measuring 4m x 2.5m and constructed from substantial 44mm interlocking timber, this compact garden cabin makes good use of the available garden space without requiring a particularly large footprint. We also included roof and floor insulation for improved year-round comfort, together with guttering to help manage rainwater from the roof. It’s a good example of how a relatively compact garden log cabin can provide useful additional space while still being specified for more regular use throughout the seasons.

Knaphill Clockhouse Cabin

The Knaphill Clockhouse Cabin is the most compact of the current designs at approximately 4.0m x 2.5m nominal body size. I would consider it where preserving garden space matters, but you still want the distinctive Clockhouse appearance and a bright, useful interior.

Woking Clockhouse Cabin

The Woking Clockhouse Cabin is approximately 4.0m x 3.0m and provides additional depth compared with the Knaphill. That extra floor area can make furniture positioning and movement easier if you want seating, a desk, a table or several different uses within the room.

Bisley Clockhouse Cabin

The Bisley Clockhouse is approximately 5.3m x 3.8m and provides considerably more internal space. It is worth considering for larger seating arrangements, entertaining, hobbies or customers who want a more spacious garden retreat.

Crowthorne Clockhouse Cabin

The Crowthorne Clockhouse Cabin is also approximately 5.3m x 3.8m and is particularly notable for its generous glazed frontage. It is a strong choice when natural light, garden views, and a spacious pavilion-style room are priorities.

Specifications and options can change, so always check the individual product page before ordering. If internal dimensions are particularly important, ask us to confirm them rather than relying only on nominal external sizes.

What Can a Clockhouse Cabin Be Used For?

A Clockhouse cabin can work as a garden lounge, hobby room, studio, games room, entertaining space or home office. Its generous glazing also makes the design particularly attractive when you want to sit inside and enjoy views across the garden.

If you plan to use the cabin as an office, think about desk position, electrical sockets, internet access, heating and how sunlight will fall on computer screens. For entertaining or relaxing, allow enough room for furniture and circulation rather than filling every available metre of floor space.

Can a Clockhouse Log Cabin Be Used Throughout the Year?

Yes, with an appropriate specification and suitable heating, a Clockhouse log cabin can provide useful space throughout more of the year. The current Clockhouse range includes double-glazed doors and windows and timber floors, but comfort in colder weather depends on more than glazing alone.

If frequent winter use is important, consider floor and roof insulation, heating, ventilation and the complete cabin specification. You can also compare our insulated log cabins if thermal performance is a major priority.

The Base and Position Are Important

A Clockhouse log cabin requires a sound, firm, flat and level foundation. An unsuitable base can affect assembly, doors, windows, and how the structure settles, so establish the correct base dimensions and specification before the building arrives.

If you are preparing the foundation yourself, our log cabin base guide explains the main foundation options and the importance of getting the base firm, flat and level.

When choosing the position, also consider sunlight, garden views, privacy, nearby trees and boundaries, drainage and future maintenance access. Remember that the Clockhouse roof can project beyond the main wall footprint, so don’t position the walls based on available space without checking the full external dimensions.

We can help with bases and other practical requirements through our garden building services.

Optional Clockhouse Cabin Assembly

If you would prefer not to assemble the cabin yourself, an optional assembly service is available on suitable Clockhouse models. Availability depends on the individual building, delivery area, site access and having a suitable prepared base, so check the relevant product page or speak to us before ordering.

See Clockhouse Log Cabins Before You Buy

I have always believed that seeing a garden building in person is one of the best ways to make a confident decision. A photograph cannot fully demonstrate timber quality, flooring, glazing, door operation, headroom or how much usable room you actually have once you step inside.

You are welcome to visit our Surrey showrooms and garden building display site at Sutton Green Garden Centre, Whitmoor Lane, Sutton Green, Guildford, Surrey GU4 7QA. We cannot display every building all of the time, so please check with us before making a special journey if there is a particular Clockhouse model or feature you want to inspect.

Why My Garden Building Experience Matters

A substantial 70mm garden log cabin supplied and installed for one of our customers in Godalming. This Trentan Shalford 2 is a good example of a log cabin specified for comfortable year-round use.
Trentan Shalford 2 log cabin
Last week our installers were in sunny Godalming to build this Trentan Shalford 2 log cabin for one of our customers. Measuring 6m x 3m and constructed from substantial 70mm interlocking timber walls, the cabin was specified with roof and floor insulation to make it suitable for comfortable year-round use. We also constructed the heavy-duty timber subframe base and fitted guttering, together with an additional set of double doors in the gable end. Our electrician will be visiting shortly to install the electrics. It’s a good example of how a 70mm garden log cabin can be tailored to the customer’s intended use, with the base, insulation, access and electrical requirements considered as part of the overall project.

I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started my first garden building business in 1979, trading as Marina Sheds. I sold Marina Sheds in 1990, although unfortunately I did not receive all the money I was due from the sale.

In 1992 we expanded into summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins, and that broader direction led to the name Titan Garden Buildings. My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College from 1990, bringing his own practical knowledge of timber and construction into the business.

We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998. In 2000, Craig and I decided to retail quality garden buildings selected from suitable manufacturers, and 1st Choice Leisure Buildings was formed. Today Craig runs the day-to-day business, and I continue to support him and the team whenever required.

That experience is why I encourage customers to look beyond an attractive photograph. With a Clockhouse log cabin, the design is certainly important, but so are the timber construction, glazing, floor, usable dimensions, base, options and suitability for what you intend to do inside it.

Clockhouse Log Cabin FAQs

What makes a Clockhouse log cabin different?

A Clockhouse log cabin is distinguished by its projecting roof feature and balanced pavilion-style frontage. It provides the practical enclosed space of a log cabin but with a more decorative architectural appearance than many conventional rectangular cabin designs.

What is a Clockhouse cabin used for?

Clockhouse cabins can be used as garden rooms, offices, studios, hobby rooms, games rooms, entertaining spaces or relaxing retreats. The right size depends on the furniture, equipment and number of people you expect to accommodate.

Can I use a Clockhouse cabin as a garden office?

Yes. A Clockhouse cabin can make an attractive garden office, with a size and specification that suit regular work. Consider desk position, daylight, electrical sockets, internet access, heating and ventilation before deciding which model is most suitable.

Do Clockhouse log cabins have double glazing?

The Clockhouse cabins currently shown in this category include double-glazed doors and windows. Specifications can change, so always confirm the latest details on the individual product page before ordering.

Is a timber floor included with a Clockhouse cabin?

The Clockhouse models currently listed in this category include timber flooring. Check the individual cabin specification for the latest floor construction and any available upgrades or options.

Which Clockhouse cabin is the smallest?

The Knaphill is currently the most compact Clockhouse design in this category at approximately 4.0m x 2.5m nominal body size. It is worth considering when garden space is limited, but you still want the characteristic Clockhouse appearance.

Which Clockhouse cabin has the most space?

The Bisley and Crowthorne are currently the largest models in this category at approximately 5.3m x 3.8m. Their styling and glazing differ, so compare the individual specifications and decide which layout best suits your intended use.

Can a Clockhouse log cabin be insulated?

Insulation options are available on suitable models, including options relating to areas such as the floor and roof. If colder-weather use is important, consider insulation alongside glazing, heating, and ventilation rather than looking at any one feature in isolation.

Can you assemble my Clockhouse log cabin?

An optional cabin assembly service is available on suitable models. Availability depends on the particular Clockhouse cabin, your location, access and the prepared base, so check the product details or speak to us before ordering.

What base does a Clockhouse log cabin need?

A Clockhouse log cabin needs a firm, flat and level foundation suitable for the size and weight of the building. Confirm the required base dimensions before carrying out groundwork, as foundation requirements and complete roof dimensions are not necessarily the same.

Does a Clockhouse cabin need planning permission?

Many domestic garden cabins can be installed without making a planning application, but this depends on matters including height, position, size, intended use and the property itself. Listed buildings and designated land can have additional restrictions. Read our log cabin planning permission guide and contact your local planning authority when confirmation is required for your circumstances.

If the position of the cabin or overall height is important to your project, you can also compare our log cabins under 2.5m tall. Several Clockhouse designs fall within this lower-height range, although being under 2.5m does not guarantee that planning permission will not be required.

Can I see a Clockhouse log cabin before ordering?

Yes. We encourage customers to visit our Surrey garden building showrooms so you can compare the quality, dimensions, glazing, floors and construction in person. Contact us before travelling if there is a specific Clockhouse model you particularly want to see.

Choosing Your Clockhouse Log Cabin

My advice is to balance appearance with practical use. Decide what needs to fit inside, compare the actual dimensions and specifications, plan the base and access, and consider any insulation or assembly options before ordering.

Browse the Clockhouse log cabins for sale above, compare the individual Knaphill, Woking, Bisley and Crowthorne designs, or explore our complete log cabins and garden log cabins if you would like to consider other styles.
