When choosing a summer building, you need to check the specifications to ensure it will have the strength to last. So always check out the thickness of the timber, whether it’s made from redwood or the cheap inferior whitewood, how thick the framing is etc. Are the doors and windows joinery made, meaning they will last a long time? Does it has toughened glass for safety or imperfect horticultural glass, plastic or perspex? All important questions.
On many of the buildings available on the web, you will find that they will deliver them to your house and leave them for you to build. You can save a little money this way, but you will have to build it yourself. That’s OK if you are a good DIYer, but it will still be hard work. The best option is to take advantage of 1st Choice’s FREE assembly option on the Diamond and Platinum buildings. They will do all the hard work – all you need to do is build a level base for it to go onto. And they can even arrange that for you as well if you wish. This way, you can be sure your new building will be built correctly, and all you need to do is enjoy it.

To make the most of your new building, it’s a good idea to have it

Platinum buildings. It can be seen as a luxury, but you will be glad you did on those hot summer days or cold winter days. Just contact us, and we will arrange a free quote for you.

A 7×5 summer house or shed is a worthwhile addition to any garden and will actually help to improve your garden. This is because of the many uses for which they can be used for and not just for storage and relaxing although that is some of their main uses.
It’s that time of the year where the winter is behind us and the good old summerhouse (which a popular size is 7×5) starts to take a new look. Instead of your summer building being something down your garden where you have stored (dumped?) your garden tools, the barbecue and garden tables and chairs and did not bother visiting during the dark nights now you see it in a new light. As the clocks go forward the whole atmosphere of the garden changes and the lighter evenings mean you can start to use your garden building again.
Or are you one of the dedicated gardeners who use your summer house all the way through the winter, toiling away and ensuring that come Spring you have a head start on most other gardeners? If so – good for you. Even though I’ve been in the garden shed business for over 40 years I do tend to forget my buildings during the winter times preferring to be indoors. However, I do make an effort before the winter and ensure that my garden tools and the lawnmower are put away in a semi-decent state so when I come to use then I can more or less get on straight away.
Some summer houses tend to be used more than others during the winter with an instance where it has been insulated. This helps to keep the chill out of the building and stays more hospitable, also, if there is electric going to it then a little electric fan heater is the order of the day to keep it a little warmer.
But whether you close your summerhouse up and forget it for the winter or use it all year round the general advice is to check through your garden tools at this time of year. This is essential before hitting the outdoors now that Spring is here. The warmer weather is encouraging gardeners, homeowners and garden shed owners to shake off the winter blues and get gardening however it’s best to take a steady approach to the start of the season.
The advice is before hitting the outdoors is to go through the garage or garden building and go through all your garden tools which you will need for the lawn and garden. Ask the question – is everything in working order and serviceable and ready to be used again? Check over your hand tools to ensure that none of these valuable garden tools has corroded or come loose from their handles. Take the time to get your garden shovels, spades, garden edgers and pruning shears sharpened and you find this will make life so much simpler.
You may need to refill your gas and oil for the power tools and the lawn mower may need sharpening before you venture into the garden, however, you may find a waiting list to getting your lawn mower sharpened as many people leave it late to do this. Also about this time of year, it’s a good idea to make a start of the new season’s vegetables and by pre-warming the ground this will help them make a head start.
