Garden Building Experience Since 1979
I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started my own garden building business in 1979, trading as Marina Sheds. I sold Marina Sheds in 1990, although unfortunately I did not receive all the money I was due from the sale.
By 1992, our direction had expanded beyond sheds to include summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins, which led to a change of name to Titan Garden Buildings. My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College from 1990, bringing his carpentry training into the family business.
We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998 and, in 2000, decided to take a different approach. Instead of manufacturing and being restricted to our own products, we wanted to retail quality garden buildings from selected manufacturers. That decision led to the formation of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. Craig now runs the business day-to-day, and I continue to support him and the team as needed. Why Experience Matters When Buying a Garden Room
After more than four decades around garden buildings, I’ve learnt that two buildings which look very similar in photographs can be quite different when you examine them properly. Timber, framing, flooring, roofing, insulation, glazing, doors and general construction all contribute to how suitable a garden room will be for its intended purpose.
That’s why I don’t believe in recommending a building simply because it is the cheapest or most expensive option. The important thing is to match the specification to what you actually need.
