Bespoke Options
When choosing a summer building, you need to check the specifications to ensure it will have the strength to last. So always check out the thickness of the timber, whether it’s made from redwood or the cheap inferior whitewood, how thick the framing is etc. Are the doors and windows joinery made, meaning they will last a long time? Does it has toughened glass for safety or imperfect horticultural glass, plastic or perspex? All important questions.
On many of the buildings available on the web, you will find that they will deliver them to your house and leave them for you to build. You can save a little money this way, but you will have to build it yourself. That’s OK if you are a good DIYer, but it will still be hard work. The best option is to take advantage of 1st Choice’s FREE assembly option on the Diamond and Platinum buildings. They will do all the hard work – all you need to do is build a level base for it to go onto. And they can even arrange that for you as well if you wish. This way, you can be sure your new building will be built correctly, and all you need to do is enjoy it.
We have a large range of
summerhouse sizes for you to choose from and in several styles. However, we specialise in making buildings to suit your needs. Whether it needs to be taller, extra or fewer windows, the doors and windows moved, we can do that for you. Ensure you buy the building to suit you and your family with no compromises. To make the most of your new building, it’s a good idea to have it
lined and insulated to get the most use out of you all year round. Doing so will keep the building cooler in summer and warmer in winter. It’s possible to do this yourself if you feel confident. However, there is an option to do this for you on all the
Platinum buildings. It can be seen as a luxury, but you will be glad you did on those hot summer days or cold winter days. Just contact us, and we will arrange a free quote for you.
We provide a protective treatment on all our 7×6 buildings but why not consider one painted with Sadolin (Diamond Buildings) or Valtti (Platinum Buildings) paints. Both are available in a range of colours so you find a colour to suit you. You can find more details about

As Spring approaches many people start thinking about getting their gardens in order for the Summer. The garden is often seen as a place to escape the stresses of everyday life and leave the cold winter behind them – and a summerhouse is often the place to contemplate the coming seasons. Thinking about a design of patio is a great idea if you want to enjoy your garden to its fullest. Not only having the pleasure of designing your outdoor paradise, but also seeing it come it life. Where to Begin
Ultimately you need to decide what you want from your patio. Do you want to entertain lots of friends and family? Do you want to BBQ? Do you want decking or paving slabs?
By drawing a plan of your patio area you’ll have a better idea of how many paving slabs you require. Also include in your plans other details such as plants, cooking area or built-in seating.
After you have decided what your new patio will look like, you will need to think about materials. Garden supply centres are a great place to start because you can see first-hand what they look like. Also find out if there are any “how to” classes on how to install the paving or wooden decking. And planning beforehand will ensure your job doesn’t get out of hand. I didn’t work out how many paving slabs I require when I went to install a paved area down to my summerhouse. To my horror I needed over 1000 slabs. My back knew all about it afterwards. However, it was worth it as 35 years later my walk down to my summerbuildings is via these slabs.
Different Options
You will find that there are many different options when it comes to patios. You can have a concrete patio, bricks or wood decking. Each have their pros and cons.
Wood decking can look stunning when newly laid but the elements – sun, rain and snow – can take its toll. The wood decking will need to be re-stained and sealed every now and again to keep it looking good.
Concrete is another option for a patio. Concrete is strong however it can crack over time. Concrete is the most affordable choice.
Natural stone is ideal for outdoor use because it’s durable, low maintenance and looks great. Unfortunately it does cost a bit more to buy. However you may think it’s worth it due to the low maintenance and the fact it retains its beauty.
Extras
There is more to creating a patio that deciding what to lay on the ground. You’ll also want to think about plants, lighting and seating. There’s more to creating our perfect outdoor haven than a picnic table. You might also want an outdoor fire to give you some extra warmth in the evening.
Colour should also not be forgotten. Plants, herbs and flowers can make your patio come alive. They not only create a relaxed ambiance but they’ll smell great too. So when you are sitting out in your sun room you can enjoy these wonderful fragrances.
