What Makes the Lidget Deco Deluxe Apex Different?

For me, the main attraction of the Lidget Deco Deluxe Apex is the combination of a traditional pitched-roof design with Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing. It gives the building a warmer appearance than the usual white PVCu finish and can work particularly well alongside a house that already has woodgrain windows, doors or other matching features.

The other important difference is the level of equipment included as standard. This is not a basic garage that relies on a long list of extras to complete it; many of the features customers commonly ask for are already part of the Deco Deluxe specification.

A Well-Equipped Garage from the Start

A Georgian-style Hörmann up-and-over door is included, together with a 4ft wide PVCu window, 3ft personal access door, real brick front posts, PVCu fascias and vergeboards, guttering and downpipes. A sand and cement fillet is also included as part of the standard package.

I think this is important when comparing different models. Rather than looking only at the starting price, compare what you would actually want fitted to the finished building. If you were going to add a personal door, window, guttering and upgraded front detailing anyway, a more complete specification can make a lot of sense.

Golden Oak or Rosewood Wood-Effect Detailing

The Deco specification gives you a choice of Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect finishes. Golden Oak provides the lighter appearance, while Rosewood gives a darker, richer look. I would make that decision by looking at the colours already used around your property rather than choosing the garage finish in isolation.

Doors, fascias, windows and other details make up a significant part of what you see when looking at the building. Coordinating them with your house can therefore have more impact on the finished appearance than you might initially expect.

Traditional 12½-Degree Apex Roof

The Deco Deluxe Apex has a traditional V-shaped roof with a 12½-degree pitch. Fibre-cement roof sheets are supported by a strong roof structure and finished with close-fitting ridge and eaves fillers, with a choice of roof sheet colours available.

The pitched roof works particularly well with the Georgian-style door, real brick front posts and wood-effect detailing. Taken together, these features give the Deco Deluxe a more decorative appearance than a garage designed purely around function.

Choose the Size for How You Will Really Use It

There is a wide choice of widths and lengths, so I would start by thinking about what needs to happen inside rather than simply choosing the smallest size that will accommodate your car.

Allow enough space to open vehicle doors comfortably and walk around the car, then consider everything else likely to find its way into the garage. Bicycles, tools, gardening equipment, shelving and workbenches all require space. If the site allows it, a little additional room can make the building much more useful over its lifetime.

A Personal Door Makes Everyday Use Easier

One feature I particularly like on the Deco Deluxe is the included personal access door. If you regularly need a bicycle, tool, mower or something from storage, being able to walk straight in is much more convenient than opening the main garage door every time.

The included 4ft fixed window also provides useful natural light. Additional fixed or opening windows can be specified if required, which is worth considering if part of the garage will be used as a workshop or hobby area.

Real Brick Front Posts Complete the Look

Real brick front posts are included as standard and help give the front elevation a more substantial appearance. On this particular model, I think they complement the wood-effect detailing and traditional apex roof especially well.

There are also different wall finishes available, including spar, brick-effect, stone and textured options. My advice would be to consider the wall finish, brick posts, roof and wood-effect detailing together so the completed building works as one design.

Get the Concrete Base Right

However attractive the garage is above ground, everything starts with the base underneath it. The concrete base needs to be correctly sized, flat, square and level so the panels, doors and roof can be installed properly.

Deco Deluxe or Standard Deluxe Apex?

If you are deciding between the Deco Deluxe and the standard Deluxe Apex, I would concentrate on the appearance you actually prefer. The Deco version makes most sense when the Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing complements your property and is something you genuinely want.

If you prefer the cleaner appearance of conventional white PVCu, I would compare the standard Deluxe Apex instead. I don’t believe in paying for a particular specification simply because it is described as an upgrade; the additional features need to have value to you.

10-Year Transferable Structural Guarantee

The Lidget Deco Deluxe Apex comes with a 10-year structural guarantee which is transferable if you move home, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. For a substantial building intended to remain in use for many years, I regard proper manufacturer backing as an important part of the overall package.

I would put the Deco Deluxe Apex on my shortlist if I wanted a traditional pitched-roof garage, liked the Golden Oak or Rosewood appearance and already intended to include features such as a personal door, window, guttering and upgraded front detailing.

If the wood-effect finish isn’t important to you, I would compare it with the other Apex specifications before deciding. The strength of this model is the combination of its appearance and included equipment, so those are the reasons I would use to decide whether it is worth choosing.
