The finished internal dimensions will be smaller because of framing, insulation and internal lining. It is also important to understand that not every building displayed within this size category measures exactly 7m x 4m, so always check the individual model dimensions before arranging furniture or the foundation.
Is a 7m x 4m Garden Room Suitable for a Large Home Office?
Yes. A 7m x 4m garden office can provide a substantial professional workspace for several people. There can be room for multiple desks, office chairs, storage, printers and a separate meeting or seating area while still retaining comfortable circulation space.
With a room this large, I recommend planning the furniture before finalising the doors and windows. Think about computer screens, natural light, electrical sockets, internet equipment, cupboards and the routes people will take through the room. A well-planned large office can work considerably better than simply choosing the maximum possible floor area.
Can Several People Work in a 4m x 7m Office?
Yes. A 4m x 7m office can accommodate several workstations depending on their size and the amount of storage and equipment required. Two people can have extremely generous workspaces, while three or more desks can also be practical with a carefully considered arrangement.
Do not judge capacity purely from the square metre figure. Large desks, office chairs, filing, monitors and meeting furniture can occupy space surprisingly quickly, so measure the furniture you actually intend to use before ordering.
7m x 4m or 4m x 7m Garden Room – Is There a Difference?
The descriptions 7m x 4m garden room and 4m x 7m garden room describe the same nominal floor area, but the orientation matters. The position of the seven-metre side, entrance, glazing and roof can affect how the building sits within your garden and how furniture can be arranged inside.
Always check the individual product drawing rather than relying on the category name alone. On a room of this scale, moving doors or windows can substantially improve the internal layout, and selected ranges allow these details to be altered.
Does Every Garden Room on This Page Measure 7m x 4m?
No, and this is particularly important on this page. The 7m x 4m category brings together buildings that may be suitable for customers looking for a large garden room, but the individual models have very different maximum dimensions.
Platinum Fleet and Odiham currently extend to approximately 4.8m x 3.6m, while Highclere reaches approximately 4.8m x 4.2m. These can be excellent large garden rooms, but they are significantly shorter than a true seven-metre building.
The Platinum Winchester Apex, Winchester Pent and Winchester Transverse extend to approximately 8.4m x 4.8m and are therefore the current ranges I would look at first if you genuinely require something close to 7m x 4m.
Which Range Should I Choose for a True 7m x 4m Garden Room?
If getting close to seven metres in length is important, I would concentrate particularly on our Platinum Winchester range. Winchester offers a much broader selection of dimensions than Fleet, Odiham or Highclere and is available in Apex, Pent and Transverse designs.
Winchester also provides considerable flexibility over doors, windows, cladding and layout, with a full insulation and internal lining option available. That combination of size and customisation makes it especially relevant when you are planning a substantial office, studio or multi-purpose garden room.
Should a 7m x 4m Garden Room Be Insulated?
If you intend to use a room of this size regularly throughout the year, I would strongly consider insulation. However, I would not choose a building simply because the word “insulated” appears in its description. Compare what is included in the walls, floor and roof together with the doors, glazing and internal finish.
Fleet and Odiham are fully insulated Platinum models but do not reach anything close to seven metres in length. For a larger room genuinely approaching 7m x 4m, Platinum Winchester is more relevant and can be specified with a full insulation and lining package. My Garden Building Experience Since 1979
I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started my own garden building business in 1979, trading as Marina Sheds. In those early years I made garden buildings, sold them, delivered them and dealt directly with customers, so I learnt to look at how a building is actually constructed rather than simply how attractive it appears in photographs.
I sold Marina Sheds in 1990, although unfortunately I did not receive all the money I was due from the sale. It was a difficult business lesson, but it did not end my involvement with garden buildings.
By 1992 we had expanded beyond traditional sheds to include summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins, and that broader direction led to the name Titan Garden Buildings. My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College from 1990, bringing his practical carpentry knowledge into the family business.
We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998 and in 2000 formed 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. Rather than being restricted to one manufacturer’s products, Craig and I wanted to use our experience to select quality garden buildings from different manufacturers and give customers a genuine choice. Why Experience Matters on a Garden Room This Large
After working with garden buildings since 1979, I’ve learnt that two large buildings can appear very similar online while differing considerably when you compare the framing, cladding, flooring, roof, glazing, insulation, doors and internal finish.
A garden room around 28 square metres is a substantial purchase, so I would look beyond the headline price. I don’t believe bigger or more expensive automatically means better. The right building is the one whose size, specification and layout genuinely match how you intend to use it.
6m x 4m or 7m x 4m Garden Room?
A true 7m x 4m footprint provides around 28 square metres compared with approximately 24 square metres for a 6m x 4m room. The additional four square metres comes from another metre of length and can provide useful room for an extra workstation, more storage or clearer separation between office and leisure areas.
If you do not genuinely need the additional length, a 6m x 4m garden room or office already provides a substantial workspace and may make better use of your garden and budget.
7m x 4m or a Deeper Large Garden Room?
Sometimes additional depth is more useful than additional length. If your furniture or intended use requires greater front-to-back space, compare the proportions rather than concentrating only on the total square metres.

Can a 7m x 4m Garden Room Include Separate Storage?
