Our Platinum Potting Sheds are extremely popular with the gardener as they have been carefully designed with their needs in mind. The main purpose of this type of building is growing. Still, we appreciate that someone with such a keen interest in the garden doesn’t want an ugly building blighting the sanctuary of their garden.
Hence, we offer a choice of two distinct styles which will fit comfortably in any setting.
Whichever model you choose, you can be assured that we fit as much glass as possible to ensure that the maximum amount of light floods in to help your plants develop. A strong workbench is fitted beneath the windows as standard, and we fit a sturdy, stable door in every building to ensure it remains a comfortable workplace.
As versatile as they are unique in their quality, both models can be used for multiple purposes other than sowing seeds. We have, for example, supplied several Platinum Medstead Potting Sheds, which we have insulateda> and fitted upgraded to double-glazed windows for local artists.
There are three building configurations available: Alton – traditional sloping glass front with opening window. Medstead – modern vertical front to maximise growing space. Alresford – versatile building with a half-glazed roof for maximum light. All models offer optional stable doors in the end wall and a bench beneath the windows within the side wall; however, alternatives, such as partitions, are always possible. To create a separate storage shed if desired.
The Platinum Alresford Apex Shed sunroom as many uses. It can be used as a sunroom or as a garden potting shed. Even a hobby room as the light will flow in. It is soundly built from redwood deal timber for a long life. You won’t find any chipboard, OSB or other ‘nasties’ in this building.

Every gardener would love the possibilities presented by the addition of a Diamond Potting Shed. With three distinct designs in a huge range of sizes, we are confident you will find something to delight in. However, we can also build to order if you require something different.
From a small potting shed right up to a very large building.
Portslade – This lean-to potting shed is available in sizes from 1.8m x 1.2m (6’ x 4’) up to 4.8m x 3.6m (16’ x 12’) and boasts a fully-boarded sloping pent-style roof. There is a 0.76m (2’ 6”) stable door with a rim-lock and a slatted potting bench beneath the windows. The highest part of the roof – 2.06m (6’ 9”) internally on all models – sits directly above the bench, making this a good option if you plan on growing taller plants atop the bench.
Pulborough – Similar to our Portslade model however the Pulborough boasts an attractive fully-boarded apex-style roof. The slatted wooden potting bench, opening window(s) and stable door remain; however, the internal ridge heights vary in this style depending on the width of the building. On buildings up to 2.7m (9’) wide, the ridge will be 2.06m (6’ 9”) and on 2.7m (9’) models it will increase to 2.13m (7’); on 3.0m (10’) and 3.3m (11’) models this will become 2.18m ( 7’ 2”) and on 3.6m (12’) models a lofty 2.31m (7’ 7”)
Petworth – This ever-popular model is an upgraded version of our Pulborough, with half of the roof being replaced with a unique toughened glass roof design to allow the maximum amount of light to flood in.
The Diamond Petworth Apex Solar Potting Shed sunroom as many uses. It can be used as a sunroom or possibly has a garden potting shed. Even a hobby room as the light will flow in. So naturally, we normally have one on display, so you can see how good this potting shed is assembled FREE. Available in Apex or Pent styles at the same price. Sizes from 6×4 up to 16×12.
The Diamond Graffham Greenhouse-Shed Combination is the answer to your needs. You have a superb 6 ft x 6½ ft greenhouse; naturally with toughened glass for safety, and a super 6 ft x 3½ ft shed for storing your tools, seed trays and garden accessories away from prying eyes.
By combining the Greenhouse with a garden shed, you have a visually pleasing garden building that is very functional and eco-friendly – think of the lovely tomatoes, strawberries which you will be able to enjoy.
It the time of year when winter is nearly over and spring is about to spring. Easter is only a few weeks away and this traditionally is when the garden starts to get its owners’ full attention. This year Easter is the earliest it has been for a number of years and for the life of me I can’t understand why the date keeps changing. Christmas is the same every year so why not Easter?
Anyway Easter is one of the busiest time of the year for getting out into the garden and seeing what needs doing. The garden shed is often a likely candidate, certainly if it is one of the cheap ones available on the web. I’m sure you know what I mean – the garden sheds with chipboard or OSB floors and worse roofs which start to disintegrate as soon as they get wet.
The garden sheds which you CAN’T see before you buy. Yes they are cheap but just think why these sheds are cheap. Maybe this time is worth looking at garden sheds or workshops just a little bit better and, quite radically, only buying a garden shed you can see. You know it makes sense.
A greenhouse for the garden is another consideration and it nearly always a good idea. Whilst helping with your gardening hobby you can grow delicious fruit and vegetable and saves loads of money. Also this produce which you grow also tastes nicer and you have the satisfaction of having grown it your self.
Owning your own greenhouse or potting shed means you can enjoy many happy hours and also can help socially. With a common interest, and even more so when society is trying to be greener, you can share ideas and maybe produce for both your interests. The benefits of owning your own greenhouse include improving your health and relieving stress from the day to day world.
The greenhouse is not the only option for growing fruit and vegetables although it is the first garden building thought about when considering these type of buildings. You will finds that greenhouses can come in many sizes and shapes. Traditionally these garden buildings were all timber but over the year the aluminum greenhouses have become more popular, mainly because of cost.
Usually glazed with horticultural glass, (this is glass which may have small imperfections in it but it is ideally suited for this purpose) Polycarbonate, plastic or even polyethylene can be used. .I personally would not consider plastic or polyethylene but glass or polycarbonate will do the job admirably. An opening window and, or, skylights would be a good idea for ventilation. There are also many shapes which include the orangery style which harp back to the good old Victorian times. 1st Choice Leisure Buildings have examples of greenhouses on their display site for viewing so, if interested, take a trip out to see these super garden buildings.
Another option is a combination greenhouse and garden shed such as the Diamond Graffham. With these garden buildings you would normally find about 2/3 rds of the building would be a greenhouse and the remaining 1/3 rd would be a garden shed. You would the be able to conveniently store your garden tools and plant pots and boxes in the shed section.
This combination greenhouse-garden shed also looks very neat and tidy. Normally available in varying lengths and widths. You will also find the Graffham can have the garden shed and greenhouse in different proportions to suit your needs. Again, ensure you take a look at these buildings before buying so you don’t end up with a cheap imitation.
A third option is a garden potting shed. This tends to be a garden shed with a large expanse of glass on one side. Traditionally the glass will slope backward at an angle as it’s claimed this makes the most of the sun. The only downside to this is that it reducing dramatically the interior space. If you take a look at the Diamond Potting Shed you will see they given a lot of thought to the design and this ensures that you do not lose any space inside, hilt having a massive expanse of glass on the front and both ends.
This very popular potting shed is available with an pent (single slope) roof as well as an apex (gable) roof. They have also added an half glass roof option so you do not miss out on any sunshine – a true masterpiece. Complete with slatted potting bench, opening window and stable door there are no standard extras required.
How to choose? Take a look at all three types of greenhouses, greenhouse combination sheds and solar potting sheds at 1st Choice Leisure Buildings display site near Guildford in Surrey. These experts, who have been involved with the manufacture of garden buildings since 1979 recognise that they are here to serve you and not to push onto you what ever THEY choose. You know it makes sense.
