24×10 Sheds – Very Large Storage and Workshop Space

A 24×10 shed gives you around 240 square feet of nominal floor space, making it a very substantial timber building for machinery, bicycles, tools, shelving and larger equipment. A 24ft x 10ft shed also gives you enough width for a sizeable workbench and clear working space, so this footprint can work particularly well when you want to combine storage with DIY, hobbies or workshop use.

This page is part of our wider garden sheds range but concentrates specifically on this much larger size. The genuine 24×10-capable products currently displayed here are the Diamond Chichester Apex, Diamond Barnham Apex and Pent, and Platinum Winchester Apex, Pent and Transverse models.

What Is a 24×10 Shed Best Used For?

A 24×10 shed is useful when an ordinary storage shed is no longer large enough. Garden machinery, bicycles, furniture, tools and bulky equipment can be organised around the perimeter while still leaving room for shelving, benches and clear access through the building.

I would plan the interior before ordering. Measure your largest equipment, decide where benches and storage will go and think about how easily everything will pass through the doors. With a building 24ft long, the entrance position can make a major difference in how easily you reach equipment stored at either end.

Which 24×10 Shed Should I Choose?

If you want a traditional timber shed with plenty of flexibility, the Diamond Chichester Apex is worth considering. Its stated range extends from 4×4 to 24×12, putting a 24ft x 10ft shed within its normal size range. Free fitting, painted finishes, configurable doors and windows and bespoke options are available.

The Diamond Barnham Apex and Diamond Barnham Pent are also genuine 24×10 choices. Their stated size range extends from 6×4 to 28×12, with free fitting, colour-finish options and double doors on larger sizes. I recommend comparing the Apex and Pent based on the roof shape, entrance position, and how you intend to organise the building.

The Platinum Winchester Apex, Platinum Winchester Pent and Winchester Transverse give you a different proposition. Their stated size range extends from 8×6 to 28×16, with free assembly, colour-finish options and full insulation available. Winchester also offers considerable flexibility over doors and windows, which becomes especially useful with a building as large as a 10×24 shed.

Apex, Pent or Transverse?

An apex roof gives you the familiar central ridge, while a pent roof slopes in one direction. The Winchester Transverse changes the building’s orientation and main elevation. On a 24ft x 10ft shed, this is more than an appearance choice because the position of the entrance can completely change how you use the internal space.

I would decide where the building will stand, how you naturally approach it and where machinery, shelving and workbenches need to go before settling on the layout. With 24ft of length available, getting the access right at the start is important.

Is a 24ft x 10ft Shed Big Enough for a Workshop?

For many home DIY and hobby requirements, yes. A 24ft x 10ft shed provides enough room for substantial workbenches, tools, machinery and organised storage while retaining clear working space. It is large enough to divide the interior into separate areas rather than having everything competing for the same floor space.

If you expect to spend regular periods inside, I would compare the Winchester buildings because full insulation is available. If your main requirement is large-scale storage and practical access, the Chichester or Barnham may provide the specification you need without paying for features which are less important to you.

Can You Get an Insulated 24×10 Shed?

Yes. Full insulation is available on the Platinum Winchester Apex, Pent and Transverse buildings currently shown on this page. This can make sense if you expect to use the building regularly for DIY, hobbies or projects rather than solely for storing equipment.

I would not automatically add insulation simply because it is available. A shed used mainly for lawnmowers, bicycles and garden machinery has very different requirements from a building where somebody intends to work for several hours at a time. Choose the specification around what you will actually do inside.

Are These 24×10 Sheds Fitted for You?

Professional fitting or assembly is included with the genuine 24×10-capable Diamond and Winchester buildings shown here, subject to the relevant delivery area, suitable site access and having a correctly prepared base ready before installation.

You will still need a firm and level foundation. Garden-building dimensions are nominal, so always prepare your base using the precise measurements supplied for your chosen configuration rather than relying solely on the description 24×10 shed.

What Should You Check Before Buying a 24×10 Shed?

After many years in this business, I would never recommend choosing a building this large simply from its photograph, headline dimensions and price. Look at the framing, cladding, floor, roof, doors, glazing and available options. Door width, internal height and the position of windows become particularly important when you are dealing with a building of this size.

Two buildings described as a 24×10 shed can be quite different products. Somebody storing machinery may prioritise wide access and clear floor space, while somebody planning regular DIY or hobby use may place greater value on opening windows, insulation and the ability to configure the internal layout.

My Experience With Garden Buildings Goes Back to 1979

I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started my own business in 1979, trading as Marina Sheds. I was hands-on from the beginning, making and selling sheds, dealing directly with customers and learning where timber, framing, floors, roofs and doors really matter once a building is standing in somebody’s garden and being used.

I sold Marina Sheds in 1990, although unfortunately I did not receive all the money which was due from the sale. It was a difficult business lesson, but I remained in the garden-building industry and carried on.

By 1992 we had expanded beyond traditional sheds and added summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins. That wider direction led to a name change to Titan Garden Buildings. My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College from 1990, bringing his own practical carpentry knowledge into the business.

We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998 and in 2000 made another important change. Rather than being tied to products from one manufacturer, Craig and I formed 1st Choice Leisure Buildings so we could retail carefully selected quality buildings from manufacturers we trusted and give customers a genuine choice.

Craig now runs the day-to-day business, and I continue to support him and the team whenever required. You can read more about my background on my Robin Antill founder and author page and more about our history on the About 1st Choice Leisure Buildings page.

Why Does My Experience Matter When Choosing a 24×10 Shed?

Having worked with sheds and garden buildings since 1979, I have seen the industry from both sides: first manufacturing and selling buildings myself and later comparing buildings from different manufacturers for our customers. That experience has taught me that the biggest or most expensive shed is not automatically the right one.

If traditional storage, fitting and flexibility are your priorities, compare the Chichester and Barnham buildings. If you want a larger pressure-treated building with full insulation and considerable layout flexibility, compare the Winchester models. My role is to explain those differences so you can choose the 24ft x 10ft shed which genuinely suits your needs rather than simply selecting the highest specification available.

How Do I Choose the Best 24ft x 10ft Shed?

Start by deciding what needs to go inside, whether you need one or more workbenches, how regularly you expect to use the building and where the main entrance needs to be. With a 24ft-long building, think especially carefully about how you will reach equipment stored at either end.

Whichever 24ft x 10ft shed you choose, check the exact dimensions, door and window arrangement, insulation options where applicable, base requirements and delivery access before ordering. If another footprint might suit your garden better, compare alternatives in our garden sheds by size section.

If you are unsure which 10×24 shed is right for you, please ask us. Between Craig, myself and the team, there is a great deal of practical garden-building experience here, and I would much rather help you choose the correct building before you order than see you pay for features you do not need or discover later that another specification would have worked better.

Can I See a Large Shed Before Buying?

Whenever practical, I recommend seeing garden buildings before buying. We cannot display every model in every possible size. Still, you can visit our Surrey garden building display site between Guildford and Woking, where almost 80 garden buildings are normally available to inspect. You can compare construction, floors, doors, windows, framing and finishes before making your decision.

Photographs and specifications are useful, but standing inside a building tells you far more about how substantial the floor feels, how the doors operate and how much usable room there really is. I started selling sheds in 1979 and have found that the quality and understanding of specifications are two of the best ways to make a good buying decision.

Can I See a 24×10 Shed Before Buying?

We cannot display every model in every possible size. Still, you can visit our Surrey garden building display site near Guildford, Woking and Ripley to inspect representative buildings and compare construction, floors, doors, windows and finishes for yourself.

Photographs are useful, but they cannot fully show you how substantial a floor feels underfoot or how a door operates.

I started selling sheds in 1979 and still believe that seeing the product and understanding its specifications are two of the best ways to make a good buying decision.
