Why Trust 1st Choice Leisure Buildings?

Choosing a garden building is an investment, so it's important to buy from a company you can rely on. At 1st Choice Leisure Buildings, we've been helping customers find the right garden sheds, summerhouses, log cabins, garden offices and workshops since 1979 when Robin Antill opened the doors. As a family-run business, we believe in offering honest advice rather than a hard sell. We take the time to understand what you need and help you choose a building that suits your garden, your budget and the way you plan to use it.

Our approach is reflected in our 4.9 Trustpilot rating, where customers regularly mention our friendly, helpful service. We only work with manufacturers we trust, selecting buildings that offer good quality, durability and value for money. Most are made from FSC®-certified timber and built to cope with the British weather. If you'd rather see a building before you buy, you're welcome to visit one of the UK's largest garden building display sites.

We live quite far away; is it really worth visiting our show rooms? Absolutely!

Whilst we cannot display everything we offer, we have carefully selected around 80 different buildings that allow us to demonstrate almost every feature, design option, and construction detail in one form or another.

This allows you to compare styles, sizes and specifications, ask any questions you may have, and find the building that best suits your needs.

Why Choose a Multi-Room Log Cabin?

A garden building doesn’t have to be just a place to keep the lawnmower. For many people, it’s become an extra part of the home, and that’s where a multi-room log cabin comes into its own. Instead of one large open space, you get separate rooms that can be used for completely different purposes, making the building far more practical in the long run.

One of the most common reasons people choose a multi-room cabin is because life changes. You might buy it as a home office, then a few years later turn part of it into a hobby room or somewhere for the kids to hang out. Others use one side for storage while keeping the other as a space to relax or entertain friends. Having those separate rooms means you don’t have to choose between storage and usable living space – you can have both.

The range at 1st Choice Leisure Buildings includes cabins in all sorts of sizes, so whether you’ve got a compact garden or plenty of outdoor space, there’s usually something that fits. Some designs have a large main room with a smaller storage area, while others split the building more evenly, giving you two or three separate rooms to work with.

If you’re spending money on a log cabin, you want it to last. That’s why they’re built using quality timber and include features such as double glazing and solid floors on many models. It all adds up to a building that feels more like an extension of your home than a basic garden shed. If you plan to use it all year round, insulation upgrades are also available to help keep the cabin comfortable whatever the weather.

Working from home is still one of the biggest reasons people invest in a garden cabin. Having somewhere to shut the door at the end of the day makes it much easier to separate work from home life. At the same time, the second room can be used for filing, storage, or even as a small meeting space if clients occasionally visit.

They’re not just for work, though. Plenty of homeowners turn them into home gyms, craft rooms, music rooms or somewhere to escape with a book and a coffee. Some even use them as a garden bar or games room, giving everyone a place to enjoy without taking over the house.

Another advantage is that a multi-room cabin can adapt as your needs change. A children’s playroom can become a teenage den, then later a home office or guest room. Because the layout is already divided into separate spaces, you don’t need to make major changes if your plans evolve.

1st Choice Leisure Buildings also offers a choice of finishes and optional extras, so you can create a cabin that suits your property rather than settling for a one-size-fits-all design. Whether you prefer a traditional look or something a little more modern, there are options to personalise your building.

A multi-room log cabin is one of those purchases that tends to become more useful over time. Whatever you need today, chances are you’ll find another use for it in the future, making it a worthwhile addition to almost any garden.

  • Do Log Cabins Stay Warm in Winter? What You Need to Know Before You Build

If you plan to invest in a log cabin for your garden, a key consideration is how often you can use it. Many people believe log cabins in the UK are usable only during the warmer spring and summer months, making them reluctant to buy one.

But is this the case, and are log cabins warm in winter? In our guide, we aim to dispel the myths and give you the lowdown on log cabin temperatures and whether they are comfortable to use and even live in during the colder months.

What Factors Affect Log Cabin Warmth in the Winter? Log cabin warmth isn’t simple – it’s not just a case of sticking a heater inside and hoping it heats effectively. That approach can work, but it is less cost-effective, and heaters have limitations. Instead, consider other factors, including insulation and sealing.

  • How to Build a Log Cabin Base – Step by Step Guide & Ideas
Garden cabins are a must-have component in any traditional British garden. These sanctuaries let you enjoy the seasons in all their splendour while protecting you from the sun, wind, and rain. However, if you want your log cabin to last, you must understand how to build the foundation. If you don’t, it may decompose from the ground up, collapse, or succumb to the weather conditions. Fortunately, you won’t have to learn to build a log cabin foundation by yourself. This guide is here to help. It covers the many types of bases for garden structures, how to build them, who to hire for base construction, and how to repair and maintain your setup. Everything you need is in one place.
  • Log Cabin Planning Permission: Overcoming Key Challenges
Uncovering Planning Permission: An In-Depth Guide for Log Cabin Owners For many individuals, having a log cabin in the garden is the ultimate dream. You finally have enough space for your mowers, tools, gardening supplies, and leisure activities. Unfortunately, planning permission is always a cause for concern in the UK. Concerns regarding its capacity to create an unrestricted log building are common. The answer varies. While some wooden cabins require planning permission, most do not due to legal developments.
  • Log Cabin Ventilation Guide: Why Proper Airflow Matters
I have heard so many different myths about log cabins, and one of the most common is that they don’t need any ventilation. I get where this comes from: if you use your log cabin regularly enough, opening doors and windows should promote healthy airflow. So do log cabins need ventilation? The short answer is yes. Our guide takes a look at this subject, along with the importance of ventilation and how to prevent dreaded dampness from occurring in your cabin. Find out why ventilation is important for Log Cabins.
  • Protect Your Log Cabin: Why Guttering Is More Important Than You Think
Water is the arch-nemesis of log cabins. It can wreak havoc through excess pressure and dampness, so protect your cabin from it to improve its longevity. A simple way to do this is guttering. But do log cabins need guttering, and is it essential? Our guide discuss log cabin water management, the potential benefits of guttering, and what to consider before buying it below.
  • Stop Condensation In Your Log Cabin With Expert Advice. Keep Your Cabin Dry
Learn About The Sources Of Condensation In Log Cabins And Prevent It. The joy of gardening is unparalleled, offering a sanctuary of fresh air and open space where you can indulge in a variety of activities. From refining walks to creating flower beds, from patiently nurturing vegetables to simply relaxing, the rewards of gardening are endless. It is also true that while gardening is a rewarding hobby, it also presents unique obstacles to overcome. How can you keep the soil fertile during a sweltering summer? How would you protect against pests? Furthermore, how will you maintain your log cabin? Condensation is one of these impacts; many individuals have experienced it in their homes. In a humid growing environment with fewer ventilation installations than your home and no slated roofing, it is critical to develop strategies to reduce condensation and its repercussions.
  • Underfloor Heating vs. Electric Heaters: Which is Better for Your Log Cabins?
Visualise your garden area. Relaxing natural sounds surround you, and you can see a window through which the breeze gently brushes your flowers. You’re relaxed and ready to begin your day, but there’s a problem: the temperature is too low to be comfortable. That’s where heating systems come in; they’re the unsung heroes of a warm and productive workplace. Providing a pleasant environment for log cabin owners is a luxury and necessary for maintaining focus and motivation. It is not recommended to use any heating system. You should carefully consider your options. Enjoy a cup of tea while learning about garden cabin heating. So much has to be done, and if you want to keep yourself occupied while saving money, we have you covered.
  • Why a Log Cabin Could Be the Smartest Investment in Your Home This Year

Since 1979, our family business has witnessed garden buildings transform from basic storage to valuable home extensions. This year, investing in a log cabin is a particularly smart and forward-looking choice. A log cabin offers more than a garden addition; it is an investment in space, lifestyle, and long-term value. More usable space without the stress of moving.

Frequently Asked Questions About Multi Room Log Cabins

No results!
  • Any issues getting a big cabin into a Woking garden?
Honestly, not usually. Everything comes in pieces. As long as we can get down the side of the house or have other clear passage through we can normally manage. can usually The only thing that sometimes causes hassle in Woking is parking for deliveries. Some roads are tight. As long as we know beforehand, we can often work around it.
  • Can I use one room as a guest space and another as an office in Guildford?
Yes, that’s what loads of people do. Office in the big room, sofa bed in the smaller room — job done. Works really well because you can close one space off from the other. If it’s occasional guests, no problem. If you’re thinking about someone living out there full-time, that’s when planning comes into it. But for the odd sleepover or friend staying a night or two, it's not normally a problem.
  • Do I need planning permission for a multi-room log cabin in Guildford?
Most of the time, no. As long as you keep the height under 2.5m when it’s near a boundary, and you’re not trying to rent it out or turn it into an annexe, you’re usually fine. Guildford Council’s pretty typical on this — they go by the national rules.
  • How do I pick the right layout for a two- or three-room cabin in Woking?
It depends on what you’re actually doing with it. A lot of people start off thinking they need loads of little rooms, but once it’s built, they realise small rooms just feel cramped. Most of the Woking jobs we do work better with one decent-sized main room and then a smaller one off to the side for storage, a quiet office, or a place to hide the messy stuff. If you’re planning a gym in one room and an office in another, think about ceiling height, plug sockets, heaters, and where you’re going to sit or put equipment. Layout matters more than people think — once the walls are up, moving things is a pain.
  • How much do groundwork, electrics and plumbing add in Surrey?
This varies quite a bit. A straightforward base for a big multi-room cabin usually lands somewhere between £1,200 and £3,000, depending on size and how flat the garden is. If the garden’s like a ski slope, it’s more work. Electrics usually cost between £300 and £1,200, depending on how many lights and sockets you want and how far the run is from the house.
  • Is the insulation good enough for year-round use in Surrey
Yes — as long as you’ve got proper insulation in the roof and floor. That’s where most of the heat goes. With that done, a small electric heater will keep the place warm in winter. We’ve been inside these cabins on cold January mornings in Surrey, and they’re perfectly usable, especially the multi-room ones, because you can shut doors and just heat the bit you’re in. If you’re planning to be out there all day, like a home office, definitely go for better glazing — it makes a big difference to comfort.
  • What base and power supply do I need in Ripley?
Ripley soil can be a bit mixed — some gardens are lovely and firm, others are basically spongy. A simple level concrete base works on all of them. Doesn’t need to be overkill, just level and wide enough so the cabin sits properly. If the ground’s soft, we dig down a bit more so it doesn’t move over winter. For power, all you need is an armoured cable from the house. Same thing we put in for most cabins. A qualified spark connects it, signs it off, and you’re sorted. Plenty for lights, heaters, a computer, whatever you're running. Only go fancy if you’re adding showers or kitchen bits… which most people don’t.
  • What maintenance do I need to think about for a multi-room cabin in Ripley?
Keep the paint or stain fresh. Every couple of years, give it a once-over — doesn’t need to be perfect, just don’t let the wood go bare. Also, don’t let bushes or big plants grow right up against the walls — they trap moisture. Aside from that, there’s not really much to do. These things last a very long time if you look after them just a little bit.
  • What wall thickness and glazing do people usually pick in Surrey?
Most people go for 44mm or 70mm logs, especially for larger cabins. Thinner walls can feel a bit lightweight on multi-room builds. Double glazing is almost standard now — it keeps the place warm and quiet. If you’re going to use it all day, especially if you're working from home, it’s worth choosing better insulation. Costs a bit more, but you feel the benefit every day.
