What Makes the Lidget Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent Different?
The main difference is its combination of a decorative pantile-effect Mansard frontage with Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing and a practical single-slope main roof. For me, it is a good choice when the appearance of the garage from the driveway matters as much as the practical specification.
What Is the Difference Between the Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent and Deco Deluxe Pent?
Both offer the distinctive Golden Oak or Rosewood Deco treatment and a high standard specification, but the Mansard version adds the raised pantile-effect front. If you prefer a simpler roofline, take a look at the Lidget Deco Deluxe Pent; if you want a more decorative front elevation, I would consider this Mansard version.
Can I Choose Golden Oak or Rosewood Finishes?
Yes. The Deco specification gives you a choice of Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing, allowing you to coordinate the appearance with your house, windows, doors or personal preference. I think this is one of the main reasons for choosing the Deco range rather than one of the standard Lidget finishes.
How High Is the Lidget Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent?
The published specification gives a 2.00m wall height rising to approximately 2.495m at the highest point. Although that maximum dimension is just below 2.5m, I always recommend checking the current planning requirements for your property and proposed position rather than assuming permission is unnecessary because of height alone.
What Is Included with the Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent?
The specification includes reinforced concrete construction, an up-and-over main door, 3ft personal door, 4ft fixed PVCu window, real brick front posts, PVCu gutters and downpipes, a galvanised steel main roof with anti-condensation lining and professional fitting on your correctly prepared base. There are also further Lidget garage options if you want to personalise the building further.
What Makes the Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent Different?
For me, the Lidget Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent is all about combining practicality with a more decorative front elevation. Behind the raised Mansard-style frontage is a straightforward single-slope main roof, while the pantile-effect detail at the front gives the building much more character than a conventional Pent design.
Add the Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing and you have a garage that is intended to look a little less functional and a little more at home alongside a property where appearance matters.
The Mansard Front Is More Than a Name
The feature that immediately identifies this model is the raised roof treatment across the front. It creates the distinctive Mansard appearance and is finished with attractive pantile-effect detailing to give the garage greater kerb appeal.
I think this works particularly well when the front of the garage is clearly visible from the house, driveway or road. You retain the simplicity of a Pent behind it, but the elevation you see most often has considerably more visual interest.
A Practical Single-Slope Main Roof
Behind the decorative frontage, the main roof uses fully galvanised steel roof sheets supported on C-section galvanised steel rafters. Vapour-proof anti-condensation lining is included to help control condensation beneath the metal roof.
This combination is one of the reasons I like the Mansard Pent concept. You get the practical construction of a mono-pitch roof without the front of the building necessarily looking like a straightforward Pent garage.
Golden Oak or Rosewood Deco Detailing
The Deco treatment gives you a choice of Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing. Golden Oak provides the lighter appearance, while Rosewood is the darker option. I would make the choice by looking at the windows, doors and other external colours already used on your home.
On this particular model, the wood-effect finish works alongside the pantile-style frontage and real brick front posts. Those details give you more opportunity to coordinate the garage with the property than you would have with a purely functional specification.
A Generous Specification Included as Standard
The Deluxe specification includes many of the features I would normally ask customers to think about when configuring a garage. You get an up-and-over main door, 4ft wide fixed PVCu window, 3ft wide half-glazed personal access door, real brick front posts, guttering and downpipes, together with the decorative Mansard frontage.
That is why I recommend comparing finished specifications rather than headline prices. If you already know you want a personal door, window, guttering and upgraded appearance, it makes sense to take account of what is included before comparing this model with a more basic alternative.
Choose the Size Around More Than Your Car
The Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent is available from 8ft 6in to 20ft 6in wide and from 14ft 3in to 24ft 3in long. Internal dimensions are normally around 6in less than the quoted external building size.
Before ordering, I would think about everything you expect to keep inside. Allow enough space to open vehicle doors comfortably and then consider bicycles, tools, garden machinery, shelving and perhaps a workbench. A garage often ends up doing far more than simply housing a car.
Personal Access Makes a Real Difference
A 3ft wide half-glazed personal door is included as standard. This is one of those features that can seem relatively minor when you are ordering but becomes very useful once you start using the building every day.
If you only want to collect a bicycle, mower or tool, you can walk straight in rather than opening the main garage door. The included 4ft fixed window also provides natural light, with opening windows available if you need additional ventilation.
Under 2.5m High, But Still Check the Rules
The standard garage has a 2.00m wall height and rises to approximately 2.495m at its highest point. Keeping the overall height just below 2.5m can be useful when considering where the building will be positioned.
However, I would never suggest that height alone guarantees you won’t need planning permission or another approval. Planning rules depend on factors including the position, size and use of the building and your particular property, so always check the current requirements with your local planning authority if there is any doubt.
Get the Concrete Base Right First
The appearance and specification receive most of the attention when choosing a garage, but the concrete base underneath it is just as important. It needs to be made to the correct dimensions and must be flat, square and level before installation.
Professional fitting is included within the applicable delivery area, subject to a correctly prepared base and suitable access from the delivery vehicle to the garage position. If you need help preparing the site, our base and additional building services provide more information about the assistance available.
Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent or Deco Deluxe Pent?
If you like the Golden Oak or Rosewood Deco appearance but are deciding between these two models, I would concentrate on the front elevation. Both give you the practicality of a single-slope main roof and a generous Deluxe specification, but the Mansard version adds that raised pantile-effect frontage.
If the garage is going to be prominent and you particularly like the more decorative appearance, I think the Mansard version has a clear reason to choose it. If the frontage isn’t important to you, the standard Deco Deluxe Pent deserves comparison because there is little point paying for styling you don’t especially value.
10-Year Transferable Structural Guarantee
The Lidget Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent comes with a 10-year structural guarantee which is transferable if you move home, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. For a substantial building intended to remain in use for many years, I regard proper manufacturer backing as an important part of the overall package.
Why You Can Rely on My Experience
I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings, and I have worked with garden buildings since starting Marina Sheds in 1979. Over the years I have been involved with sheds, summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins, both as a manufacturer and retailer.
My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College and today runs the day-to-day business, with me supporting him and the team as required. Experience has taught me that decorative features are worth paying for when they genuinely improve how you feel about the finished building, but not simply because they appear on a specification sheet. You can read more about Robin Antill and the history of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings.
See the Mansard Style and Finishes for Yourself
This is one of the models where I think seeing representative buildings and materials can be especially helpful. The Mansard frontage, wood-effect colours, brick posts and wall finishes are all easier to judge at full size and in natural daylight than from photographs alone.
You can visit our Surrey garden building display site near Guildford and Woking, where you can inspect representative Lidget buildings and discuss the different options with us.
Would I Choose the Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent?
I would put this model on my shortlist if I wanted a Pent-style building but didn’t particularly want it to look like a basic single-slope garage from the front. The raised pantile-effect Mansard detail gives it a much more distinctive elevation, while Golden Oak or Rosewood detailing adds another layer of character.
It also makes sense if you would choose the included personal door, window, brick posts and guttering anyway. If those features and the decorative frontage matter to you, the overall specification is much easier to justify.
What Is a Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent Garage?
It combines a practical single-slope main roof with a raised decorative Mansard-style frontage and Golden Oak or Rosewood wood-effect detailing. The Deluxe specification also includes a personal door, window, brick front posts and guttering.
What Is Different About the Mansard Front?
The front of the garage has a raised pantile-effect roof detail which gives the elevation a more decorative appearance. Behind this frontage, the main garage roof remains a practical single-slope galvanised steel design.
Is the Garage Less Than 2.5m High?
The standard specification gives an overall maximum height of approximately 2.495m. This can be useful when considering planning requirements, but you should still check the rules applying to your particular property and proposed garage position.
Are a Personal Door, Window and Guttering Included?
Yes. A 3ft wide half-glazed personal door, 4ft wide fixed PVCu window and PVCu guttering and downpipes are included as standard.
Is Professional Fitting Included?
Yes. Full fitting is included within the applicable delivery area, provided you have a correctly prepared flat, square and level concrete base together with suitable access for delivery and installation.
A Final Word From Robin
For me, the Lidget Deco Deluxe Mansard Pent is about getting the practicality of a Pent without settling for a plain front elevation. The pantile-effect Mansard frontage, Golden Oak or Rosewood detailing and real brick posts give it a character of its own, while the included personal door, window and guttering make it practical to live with. If those are features you value, I think this model deserves serious consideration. If you are unsure whether the Mansard version or a standard Deco Deluxe Pent would suit you better, please get in touch and we will help you compare them.
