Why I Like the Anthracite Deluxe Pent

The Lidget Anthracite Deluxe Pent is one I would consider when you want a straightforward single-slope roof combined with darker, more contemporary detailing. The anthracite finishes and black main door give what is essentially a very practical garage a much more modern appearance.

For me, that combination is the reason this model works. It doesn’t rely on decorative roof features to make an impression; the simple Pent shape, dark detailing and useful Deluxe specification give it its own character.

A Simple Front-to-Back Roof Design

The Pent roof is highest at the front and slopes down towards the rear. It is made from one-piece fully galvanised steel roof sheets supported on C-section galvanised steel rafters, with a vapour-proof anti-condensation lining beneath.

I like this arrangement because it is straightforward and practical. Rainwater is directed towards the rear, where PVCu guttering and downpipes are included as standard, while anthracite PVCu fascias and vergeboards complete the roof edges.

Anthracite Gives the Pent a Modern Character

Dark grey and anthracite finishes have become popular on windows, doors and other exterior features, so this model can work particularly well with properties already using similar colours.

I would look at the garage in relation to your house rather than choosing the finish in isolation. If you already have anthracite windows, entrance doors or bifold doors, continuing that darker theme onto the garage can help the two sit comfortably together.

The Deluxe specification includes a black ribbed up-and-over garage door, 3ft wide anthracite personal door, 4ft wide anthracite PVCu fixed window, real brick front posts, PVCu guttering and downpipes and a sand and cement fillet.

This is why I recommend comparing finished specifications rather than starting prices alone. If you already know you want pedestrian access, natural light, guttering and upgraded front detailing, take the cost of adding those features into account when comparing this model with a more basic Pent.

Reinforced Concrete Construction

The walls use reinforced interlocking concrete panels to create a strong and substantial structure. The standard spar finish provides the familiar textured appearance, with other choices available if you want to change how the walls look alongside the anthracite detailing.

Real brick front posts are included and help give the entrance a more finished appearance. I would choose the wall treatment and brick colour with the dark doors and trim in mind so the different elements work together rather than looking like separate choices.

Choose the Size for More Than Your Car

The Anthracite Deluxe Pent is available from 8ft 6in to 20ft 6in wide and from 14ft 3in to 24ft 3in long. Internal dimensions are normally around 6in less than the quoted external building size.

I would allow enough room to open the vehicle doors and move around comfortably, then think about everything else likely to end up inside. Bicycles, tools, garden machinery, shelving and workbenches all take space, and garages often become much more than somewhere to park a car.

The Personal Door Is Worth Having

A 3ft wide anthracite steel personal door is included as standard and has multi-point locking. For everyday use, I think a separate entrance is one of the most worthwhile features on a garage, particularly when you use the building for storage as well as parking.

You can collect a bicycle, mower or tool without raising the main vehicle door every time. It also gives you more flexibility when deciding how to arrange the garage internally.

Natural Light and Additional Options

A 4ft wide fixed anthracite PVCu window is included to provide natural light. Opening PVCu windows can also be specified if ventilation is important, particularly when you intend to use part of the building as a workshop or hobby space.

Other options include extra length, additional windows, partitions and drive-through arrangements. I would decide how you expect to use the garage before ordering so these choices can be incorporated from the beginning.

Get the Concrete Base Right

However good the building above it may be, the installation starts with the concrete base. It needs to be made to the correct dimensions and must be flat, square and level before the fitting team arrives.

Anthracite Deluxe Pent or Anthracite Deluxe Apex?

If you like the anthracite appearance but are deciding between the Pent and Apex versions, I would start with the roof rather than the colour. The Pent has a simple single slope running from the higher front towards the rear, whereas the Apex has two roof slopes meeting at a central ridge.

I would choose the Pent when I preferred its cleaner, simpler profile or when that roof arrangement worked better with the proposed position. If you specifically want the more traditional appearance of a pitched roof, I would compare the Anthracite Deluxe Apex instead.

10-Year Transferable Structural Guarantee

The Lidget Anthracite Deluxe Pent comes with a 10-year structural guarantee which is transferable if you move home, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. For me, proper manufacturer backing is an important part of buying a substantial building that you expect to use for many years.

Would I Choose the Anthracite Deluxe Pent?

I would shortlist this model if I wanted a simple mono-pitch roof, liked contemporary dark detailing and expected to make good use of the included personal door, window and guttering. In that situation, the Deluxe specification brings together a useful collection of features without needing to add them individually.

If the anthracite appearance isn’t important to you, I would compare the other Deluxe Pent finishes. Equally, if you prefer a traditional pitched roof, look at the Apex alternatives. I would choose this model because its particular combination of roof shape, appearance and equipment suits the property, not simply because it is the Deluxe version.
