Customers Garden Rooms Supplied
Another one of our lovely buildings brought to life! Our Royal buildings are the perfect choice for a fully insulted and double glazed year round garden room. Our customers came in to design the building with our sales advisor. This Royal is 10 foot x 16 foot with an apex roof with black felt tiles. The building also includes PVCu windows and door frames in the colour of your choice and Strongcore cladding painted in a Royal Exterior paint. The customer chose to include laminate floor and blinds for the windows also. Our base contractor constructed the heavy duty timber subframe base for the building and will be back to add decking to the base area together and our electrician will visit shortly to add the electrics to the building.
Lovely feedback to receive from our customer who recently had installed our Platinum Odiham 12ft x 10ft pent insulated garden room. Thank you for your comments 😀 ***** 5 out of 5 stars Mr C - December 21st, 2024 Happy with the range of summerhouses seen on site. Quality and pricing is good. It was easy to view and did not feel pressured into buying. Our queries were answered and we went ahead with our purchase, The summerhouse was installed on the date given. No issues. A good shopping experience.
We really did love receiving some photos of our customer's completed building which she's using as a hairdressing salon . The building is our Royal Pent Garden Room 20 foot x 8 foot which comes fully insulated, painted Strongcore, PVCu double glazed windows and doors and designed to our customer's specifications.
One of our customer's recently bought one of our Platinum Winchester Apex Garden Studios 12ft x 8ft. They had the studio painted, ply lined and with laminate flooring in advance at the manufacturer but they also wanted their very own bar to enjoy in there! Which of course we could do for them and what a nice addition to the building.
We always love seeing the finished result! From initial discussions to placing the order and sketching out the customer's desired building and then to actually seeing the building in our customer's garden is so satisfying and why we love what we do! This building is from our Royal range of fully insulated and double glazed garden rooms and is 12 foot x 10 foot with a pent roof which has EPDM rubber roofing as standard. PVCu windows and door frames, laminate floor and painted Strongcore cladding all in colours choices chosen by the customer.
Some lovely photos from one of our satisfied customers! This is one of our Royal Buckingham insulated and double glazed garden rooms measuring 10ft x 8ft. These buildings make great year round buildings and perfect for a home office. Our base contractor also laid our customer's timber subframe base for the building and our electrician has fitted the electrics including an air con unit.

Is a 5m x 3m Garden Room Big Enough for a Home Office?
For one person, a 5m x 3m garden office provides a very generous amount of working space. A true 5m x 3m footprint covers around 15 square metres, giving you room for a substantial desk, office chair, computer equipment, storage and potentially additional seating without everything feeling crowded.
The exact finished internal space varies between models because the category includes buildings with similar rather than always identical metric dimensions. Always check the individual external and internal measurements before buying furniture or preparing the base.
Can Two People Work in a 5m x 3m Office?
Yes. A 5m x 3m office can work very well for two people when desks and storage are planned carefully. The longer 5m dimension gives you useful wall space for two workstations while the 3m depth keeps the building relatively manageable within the garden.
Think about desk depth, office chairs, monitors, shelving, printers and clear movement through the room. If both people need very large desks or extensive storage, measure everything first rather than relying only on the headline floor area.
5m x 3m or 3m x 5m Garden Room – Is There a Difference?
The descriptions 5m x 3m garden room, 3m x 5m garden room and 3m x 5m office can describe a similar nominal floor area, but the orientation of the building matters. The position of the longer side, doors and windows can affect both how the room sits within your garden and how desks or storage can be arranged inside.
Always check the individual product drawing rather than relying on the category name alone. Selected ranges allow doors, windows and dimensions to be altered, which can be useful where the standard layout does not suit your garden or intended use.
Should a 5m x 3m Garden Room Be Insulated?
If you intend to use the building regularly throughout the year, consider an insulated specification. However, I would never choose a garden room simply because the word “insulated” appears in the description. Compare the walls, floor, roof, doors, glazing and internal finish together.
The current category includes Royal garden rooms with premium full insulation, Platinum Fleet and Odiham with insulated walls and roof, internal lining and double glazing included as standard, and other Platinum ranges where full insulation can be added. You can compare these choices on our insulated garden rooms and offices page.
My Garden Building Experience Since 1979
I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started my own garden building business in 1979, trading as Marina Sheds. Those early years gave me first-hand experience of making, selling and supplying timber garden buildings. They taught me to look closely at construction rather than simply judging a building from a photograph.
I sold Marina Sheds in 1990, although unfortunately I did not receive all the money I was due from the sale. It was a difficult business lesson, but it did not end my involvement with garden buildings.
By 1992 we had expanded beyond traditional sheds to include summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins, and that broader direction led to the name Titan Garden Buildings. My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College from 1990, bringing his practical carpentry knowledge into the family business.
We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998 and in 2000 formed 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. Rather than being restricted to one manufacturer’s products, Craig and I wanted to use our experience to select quality garden buildings from different manufacturers and give customers a genuine choice. Craig now runs the day-to-day business, and I continue to support him and the team whenever required. You can read more about 1st Choice Leisure Buildings and our history.
Why Garden Room Specification Matters
After working with garden buildings since 1979, I’ve learnt that two rooms with a similar 5m x 3m footprint can look almost identical online while being quite different when you compare the framing, cladding, flooring, roof, doors, glazing, insulation and internal finish.
I don’t believe the cheapest garden room is automatically the best value, and the most expensive is not automatically the right choice either. Decide how often you will use the room and what you need it to do, then choose the specification that genuinely suits those requirements.
Why the 5m x 3m Shape Works Well
The rectangular proportions are one of the strongest reasons to choose this size. You gain useful working length without the building projecting as deeply into the garden as a larger square room.
That can work particularly well for offices because desks and storage can be arranged along the longer wall. It can also suit studios, gyms and hobby rooms where equipment benefits from being arranged in a line while retaining clear floor space through the room.
4m x 3m or 5m x 3m Garden Room?
A true 5m x 3m footprint gives around 15 square metres compared with approximately 12 square metres for 4m x 3m. The additional three square metres can make a noticeable difference if you want two workstations, more storage or a seating area.
If you only need a generous one-person office or want to preserve more garden space, a 4m x 3m garden room or office may already provide everything you need.
5m x 3m or 5m x 4m Garden Room?
A true 5m x 4m footprint provides around 20 square metres compared with approximately 15 square metres for 5m x 3m. The extra five square metres can support several workstations, larger furniture, or clearer separation between working and leisure areas.
You can compare our 5m x 4m garden rooms and offices if you think the additional depth would be genuinely useful.
Can a 5m x 3m Garden Room Include Separate Storage?
Selected bespoke garden room ranges can incorporate an additional storage room or separate section. This can be useful if you want garden tools, bicycles or equipment kept away from a clean office, studio or leisure space.
If separate storage matters, discuss it before ordering so the overall dimensions, doors, windows and internal division can be planned properly rather than trying to adapt the building afterwards.
Preparing the Base for a 5m x 3m Garden Room
A garden room needs a firm, flat and level foundation suitable for the particular building. Do not construct the base from the nominal 5m x 3m category description alone because exact external dimensions vary between models. Always use the manufacturer’s precise dimensions for the building you actually order.
Our garden room base guide explains the main foundation options and why getting the base right is important.
See Garden Rooms Before You Buy
Even after more than four decades around garden buildings, I still recommend seeing them in person whenever practical. Photographs cannot fully show how substantial the floor feels, how doors and windows operate or how different specifications compare when you stand inside the buildings.
You can visit our Surrey display site at Sutton Green Garden Centre, Whitmoor Lane, Sutton Green, Guildford, GU4 7QA to compare representative garden rooms and offices. We cannot display every model and size, so please contact us before making a special journey if there is a particular building you want to inspect.
5m x 3m Garden Rooms – Frequently Asked Questions
How big is a 5m x 3m garden room?
A true 5m x 3m footprint covers approximately 15 square metres. Exact external and internal dimensions vary by model, so always check the product specification before ordering furniture or preparing the base.
Does every garden room on this page measure exactly 5m x 3m?
No. This is a metric size category covering garden rooms available in or close to that footprint. Exact dimensions vary by manufacturer and range, so use the individual product specification when planning the installation.
Is a 5m x 3m garden office suitable for two people?
Yes. A 5m x 3m garden office can provide a practical two-person workspace with room for two desks, chairs and useful storage, depending on the actual internal dimensions and layout.
Can I buy an insulated 5m x 3m garden room?
Yes. The category includes Royal fully insulated garden rooms, fully insulated Platinum Fleet and Odiham models, and selected other Platinum ranges where you can add a full insulation package. Always compare the exact walls, floor, roof, glazing and internal finish of the individual model.
Can a 5m x 3m garden room be customised?
Yes, depending on the range. Options can include dimensions, doors, windows, glazing, insulation, finishes and additional storage. Selected Winchester models are particularly useful where greater bespoke flexibility is required.
Is a 5m x 4m garden room better than a 5m x 3m?
Not automatically. A 5m x 4m room provides more floor area, while a 5m x 3m room keeps the depth more manageable and can still provide an excellent one-person or two-person office. Choose based on your furniture, intended use, available garden space, and budget.
Why choose 1st Choice for a 5m x 3m garden room?
1st Choice Leisure Buildings is a family business backed by my first-hand garden building experience since 1979 and Craig’s carpentry training and industry experience since 1992. We offer buildings from different manufacturers and ranges, so we can explain the differences and help customers choose a garden room that genuinely suits their intended use and budget.
