Another one of our lovely buildings brought to life! Our Royal buildings are the perfect choice for a fully insulted and double glazed year round garden room. Our customers came in to design the building with our sales advisor. This Royal is 10 foot x 16 foot with an apex roof with black felt tiles. The building also includes PVCu windows and door frames in the colour of your choice and Strongcore cladding painted in a Royal Exterior paint. The customer chose to include laminate floor and blinds for the windows also. Our base contractor constructed the heavy duty timber subframe base for the building and will be back to add decking to the base area together and our electrician will visit shortly to add the electrics to the building.

We really did love receiving some photos of our customer's completed building which she's using as a hairdressing salon . The building is our Royal Pent Garden Room 20 foot x 8 foot which comes fully insulated, painted Strongcore, PVCu double glazed windows and doors and designed to our customer's specifications.
One of our customer's recently bought one of our Platinum Winchester Apex Garden Studios 12ft x 8ft. They had the studio painted, ply lined and with laminate flooring in advance at the manufacturer but they also wanted their very own bar to enjoy in there! Which of course we could do for them and what a nice addition to the building.
We always love seeing the finished result! From initial discussions to placing the order and sketching out the customer's desired building and then to actually seeing the building in our customer's garden is so satisfying and why we love what we do! This building is from our Royal range of fully insulated and double glazed garden rooms and is 12 foot x 10 foot with a pent roof which has EPDM rubber roofing as standard. PVCu windows and door frames, laminate floor and painted Strongcore cladding all in colours choices chosen by the customer.

Royal or Platinum: The Simple Choice
Choose Platinum if you want the greatest flexibility over size, style, insulation and budget. It is particularly useful when you want to select the specification according to how frequently you expect to use your garden room.
Choose Royal if you want to move directly to a premium, fully insulated garden room designed around comfortable and regular use.
Neither range is automatically the better choice. A Platinum building may provide everything you need at a lower investment. At the same time, the additional Royal specification can make more sense when the room will become a frequently used office, studio or retreat.

What Is a Prefab Garden Office?
A prefab garden office is a dedicated workspace where the main sections are manufactured before being delivered to your home and assembled on a suitable prepared base. Prefab is simply short for prefabricated, and you may also see terms such as prefabricated garden office, prefabricated garden room and modular garden office used for similar buildings.
I would not choose an office based on terminology alone. What matters is how it is made. Compare the wall construction, framing, floor, roof, doors, windows, glazing and insulation, as well as what is actually included in the price. Two prefab garden offices of a similar size can have very different specifications.
Choosing the Right Prefab Garden Office
Start by considering how you will actually use your office. A building used occasionally for paperwork or a few hours of home working has different requirements from one occupied for eight hours a day throughout the year. Consider how many people will use it, what furniture and equipment you need, how much storage you require, and whether you want space for clients or colleagues.
Insulation for Year-Round Working
If you intend to work in your garden office regularly throughout the year, insulation should be high on your list. Check which parts of the building are insulated rather than relying on the word “insulated” alone. Walls, floor, and roof can all affect comfort, along with glazing, ventilation, and heating. Choosing the Right Size
Usable internal space is more important than simply choosing an attractive external size. Consider where your desk, chair, computer screens, cupboards and other equipment will go and leave enough room to move comfortably. If two people will be working in the office, the position of the doors and windows can be just as important as the overall dimensions. Apex or Pent Roof?
An apex roof gives a more traditional garden building appearance, while a pent roof offers cleaner, more contemporary lines. Both can make excellent prefab offices, so I normally choose based on personal preference, the building’s position in your garden, and any height considerations affecting your property.

Royal models, including the Buckingham, Denham, Marlow and Bletchley, are aimed at customers looking for a premium garden room and office specification. Platinum Buildings provide a broad choice of designs and sizes, including the Fleet, Odiham, Winchester, Kingclere and Highclere.
I would not automatically buy the most expensive option. If you’ll use your garden office throughout the working week, investing more in insulation and comfort can make good sense. For occasional use, a simpler specification may offer better value. The key is to compare what you get with what you actually need.
Prefab, Modular and Year-Round Garden Offices
Prefab, Prefabricated or Modular Garden Office?
Prefab is an abbreviation of prefabricated and means that significant parts of the building are manufactured before arriving at the installation site. “Modular garden office” is another term often used for buildings constructed from pre-made sections or modules. Manufacturers do not always use these terms the same way, so focus on the actual construction and specifications rather than the label. A building described as modular rather than prefab is not automatically better.
Can You Use a Prefab Garden Office All Year?
Yes, provided you choose a building and specification suitable for year-round use. If you expect to work in your office through the winter, consider insulation, glazing, heating and ventilation before ordering. Insulation helps retain heat but doesn’t create it, so you will still need an appropriate heat source in colder weather.
Summer comfort matters too. Opening windows, ventilation, glazing, and the office’s position can all make a difference on sunny days. Think about where your computer screens will be positioned in relation to the windows, as plenty of natural light is useful until direct sunlight creates glare on your screen.

Most prefab garden offices used for regular home working will need electricity for computers, monitors, lighting, heating, chargers and other office equipment. Consider your proposed desk and furniture layout before deciding where to position sockets and lighting, and arrange for a suitably qualified person to complete the electrical work.
A reliable internet connection is equally important if you work online, join video calls or access cloud-based systems. I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started Marina Sheds in 1979, beginning more than four decades of working with garden buildings. After selling Marina Sheds in 1990, we expanded into summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins in 1992 under the Titan Garden Buildings name. My son Craig joined me that year after studying carpentry at Guildford College.
We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998 and formed 1st Choice Leisure Buildings in 2000 so we could offer quality buildings from selected manufacturers rather than being tied to one range. Craig now runs the business day to day, and I continue to support him and the team.
