What Makes the Lidget Apex 15 Different?

The defining feature of the Lidget Apex 15 is its 15-degree pitched roof with bold-roll tiled fibre-cement roofing. It gives the garage a more pronounced traditional roof appearance than the standard Lidget Apex garage, while reinforced interlocking concrete panels provide the main wall construction.

What Is the Apex 15 Roof Made From?

The roof uses bold-roll tiled fibre-cement sheets complete with eaves fillers, supported by strong C-section steel rafters. The roof has a 15-degree pitch and includes timber fascias and vergeboards. If the appearance of the roof is important to you, I think this is one of the main reasons for choosing the Apex 15.

What Is the Difference Between the Lidget Apex 15 and Apex 20?

The biggest difference is the roof. The Apex 15 has a 15-degree bold-roll fibre-cement roof, whereas the Lidget Apex 20 has a steeper 20-degree roof finished with Metrotile pantile-style roofing. I would compare the two primarily on appearance, overall height and the type of roof finish you prefer.

What Sizes Are Available for the Lidget Apex 15?

The published Apex 15 range starts at 8ft 6in wide and extends to 26ft 6in wide, with lengths beginning at 14ft 3in and capable of extending beyond the standard listed sizes. Internal dimensions are normally approximately 6in less than the quoted external size, so I recommend allowing space around your vehicle as well as for shelving, tools or workshop equipment.

Can I Customise the Doors, Windows and Other Features?

Yes. A horizontal-ribbed Hörmann up-and-over door and 4ft fixed window are included as standard, with options including electric or alternative main doors, personal access doors, PVCu fixed or opening windows, guttering and downpipes, real brick front piers, partitions and extra height. You can see more of the available Lidget garage options before deciding on your final specification.

What Makes the Lidget Apex 15 Different?

For me, the roof is the main reason to consider the Lidget Apex 15. Its 15-degree pitch and bold-roll tile-effect fibre-cement covering give it a more substantial, traditional appearance than a plainer garage roof.

That difference is particularly noticeable when the building will be visible from your house, driveway or road. I would therefore look at the Apex 15 not just as somewhere to park a car, but as a fairly substantial addition to the property where appearance deserves some thought.

The 15-Degree Tile-Effect Roof

The pitched roof is supported by strong C-section steel rafters and finished with timber fascias and vergeboards. The bold-roll profile gives the roof its distinctive tile-effect appearance, while the 15-degree pitch creates the traditional V-shaped roofline that defines this model.

Guttering and downpipes are optional rather than standard. I would consider adding them if you need to control where rainwater is discharged, particularly when the garage is positioned close to paths, boundaries or other buildings.

A Garage That Can Be Sized Around You

One of the useful things about the Apex 15 is the range of sizes available. It can be specified as a single, twin or double building, so there is plenty of scope to accommodate vehicles, storage, hobbies or workshop space.

My advice is to think beyond the vehicle you own today. Allow enough room to open the doors comfortably and consider where bicycles, tools, shelving, gardening equipment or a workbench might eventually go. If you have sufficient space on your site, a little extra room inside a garage is rarely wasted.

Doors, Windows and Everyday Practicality

A fully framed and retractable Hörmann horizontal-ribbed up-and-over door is included in the specification, together with a 4ft fixed window. There are also choices for alternative main doors, personal access doors and additional fixed or opening windows.

If the building will double as a workshop or general storage area, I would give particular thought to pedestrian access and natural light. A separate personal door can save you opening the main garage door whenever you want a tool or bicycle, while additional windows can make workshop space much more pleasant to use.

Choose the Finish to Suit the Property

The Apex 15 is available with different external finishes, so you are not restricted to one appearance. This is another area where I would think about the garage and house together, especially when they will be close to one another.

The combination of wall finish, roof, door and front detailing has more visual impact than any individual option on its own. Real brick front piers are also available if you want to give the front elevation additional character.

Extra Height and Internal Layout

Extra height is available if you need greater clearance, and a partition can be specified where you want to divide the internal space. Both are worth considering before ordering because they can considerably change how useful the building is for your particular needs.

For example, separating vehicle space from tools or workshop equipment can make a larger garage much easier to organise. Equally, extra height may be important for a taller vehicle or a particular use, but you should check whether your chosen size and height have any planning or building regulation implications for your property.

Don’t Underestimate the Importance of the Base

The Apex 15 needs a properly prepared concrete base that is flat, square and level. This isn’t an area where I would recommend cutting corners. A substantial building needs a sound foundation if the panels, doors and roof are going to be installed correctly.

Professional fitting is included, subject to the applicable delivery area, a correctly prepared base and suitable access from the delivery vehicle to the garage position. If you need assistance before installation, our base and additional building services provide more information about the help available.

10-Year Transferable Structural Guarantee

The Lidget Apex 15 comes with a 10-year structural guarantee which is transferable if you move home, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. I regard that as an important part of the overall package because this is a building you should expect to use for many years.

Why I Recommend Seeing the Buildings First

I have sold garden buildings for long enough to know that specifications and photographs only tell you part of the story. With something as substantial as the Apex 15, seeing the construction, roof, doors and finishes in person can make the buying decision much easier.

You can visit our Surrey garden building display site near Guildford and Woking, where you can inspect representative Lidget buildings and talk through the available choices with us.

Why You Can Rely on My Experience

I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings, and I have worked with garden buildings since starting Marina Sheds in 1979. Over the years I have been involved with sheds, summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins, both as a manufacturer and retailer.

My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College and today runs the day-to-day business, with me supporting him and the team as required. After all those years, I still believe the important thing is helping customers understand the differences between models rather than simply telling them that one is better than another. You can read more about Robin Antill and the history of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings.

Would I Choose the Lidget Apex 15?

I would put the Apex 15 on my shortlist if I wanted a traditional pitched roof and specifically liked the stronger visual appearance of its 15-degree tile-effect design. If that roof style isn’t particularly important to you, I would also compare the standard Apex because there is little point paying for a feature you don’t especially value.

That is really the decision with this model. The Apex 15 isn’t simply another version of the same garage; its roof gives it a distinctive character. If that appearance suits your property, it becomes a very worthwhile option.

What Does Apex 15 Mean?

The Apex 15 name refers to the 15-degree pitch of the roof. The two roof slopes meet at the ridge to create the traditional apex or V-shaped appearance, with bold-roll tile-effect fibre-cement roofing completing the design.

What Type of Roof Does the Apex 15 Have?

It has a bold-roll tile-effect fibre-cement roof supported by strong C-section steel rafters. Timber fascias and vergeboards are included, while guttering and downpipes are available as options.

Does the Lidget Apex 15 Include a Window?

Yes. A 4ft fixed window is included as standard. Additional fixed or opening windows can be specified if you want more natural light or ventilation.

Can I Have a Taller Apex 15?

Yes. An extra-height option is available. This can be useful for taller vehicles or particular workshop and storage requirements, although you should check any planning or building regulation implications for your site.

Is Professional Fitting Included?

Yes. Professional fitting is included within the applicable delivery area, provided you have a correctly prepared concrete base and suitable access for delivery and installation.

A Final Word From Robin

For me, the Lidget Apex 15 has a very clear reason for being in the range: its distinctive 15-degree tile-effect pitched roof. If you like that more traditional appearance, you can then choose the size, finish, doors and other options around the way you intend to use the building. If you are unsure whether the Apex 15 or another Lidget model would be the better choice, please get in touch and we will help you compare them.
