The Lidget Deluxe Apex is one of the concrete garages I recommend when customers want a traditional pitched roof combined with a particularly comprehensive standard specification.

For me, its appeal is straightforward: many of the features customers commonly add to an Apex garage are already included as standard.

Why I Would Choose the Deluxe Apex

The main reason I would choose the Lidget Deluxe Apex over the standard Apex isn’t simply appearance. It is the amount of useful equipment already included. If you know you want a personal door, PVCu window, guttering, maintenance-free roofline details and an upgraded main door, the Deluxe puts those features together in one specification.

That makes comparisons easier. Rather than looking only at the starting price of two garages, I always suggest comparing them once you have added the features you genuinely want.

A Traditional 12½-Degree Apex Roof

The roof has the familiar Apex or gable shape, with two slopes meeting along a central ridge. Lidget uses sturdy fibre-cement roof sheets with eaves fillers on a 12½-degree pitch, finished with white PVCu fascias and vergeboards.

I think the Apex remains popular because it looks naturally at home alongside many different styles of property. It also gives you increasing internal headroom towards the centre of the garage, which can be useful if the building will double as a workshop or storage area.

A Georgian-Style Hörmann Door as Standard

The main vehicle entrance uses a Georgian-style Hörmann up-and-over door with security-enhanced four-point locking, except on the 10ft door where that particular locking arrangement does not apply. The door is fully framed and retracts upwards when opened.

I think the Georgian treatment suits this model particularly well because it adds some detail to the front elevation without making the garage overly decorative. Alternative doors, colours, side-hung designs and electric operation are available if you want something different.

A Personal Door and Window Are Already Included

A 3ft wide white vertical-ribbed personal access door is included, together with a 4ft wide fixed PVCu window. These are two features I find customers often appreciate much more once they start using the garage regularly.

The separate door means you don’t need to raise the main garage door every time you want a bicycle or tool, while the window introduces useful natural light. Opening windows and alternative personal doors can also be specified if required.

Reinforced Concrete Construction

The walls use reinforced interlocking concrete panels designed to provide strength, rigidity and efficient internal space. The standard exterior is the familiar spar finish, with optional brick-effect, stone and textured finishes available if you want to change the appearance.

Hand-pointed real brick front posts are included with the Deluxe specification. For me, these help frame the main entrance and give the front of the garage a more finished appearance.

Guttering Is Included on Both Sides

PVCu gutters and downpipes are included as standard, which is particularly useful with an Apex roof because rainwater naturally runs towards both sides of the building. I would still plan where the downpipes will discharge before installation so water can be directed somewhere suitable.

A sand and cement fillet is also included around the base of the garage as part of the Deluxe package.

Choose the Size Around How You Will Use It

The published range starts at 8ft 6in wide and extends to 26ft 6in, with lengths beginning at 14ft 3in and capable of extending beyond the standard listed sizes. Internal dimensions are normally approximately 6in less than the quoted external garage size.

Don’t measure only the car. Allow enough space to open its doors and walk around comfortably, then consider shelving, bicycles, garden machinery, freezers or a workbench. If you have room available, a little additional garage space can be surprisingly useful over the years.

Standard Apex or Deluxe Apex?

This is the comparison I think matters most on this page. Both give you reinforced concrete construction and the traditional Apex roof shape, so I wouldn’t choose the Deluxe simply because I thought it was fundamentally a different type of building.

I would choose it when I already wanted the upgraded Georgian-style main door, personal door, PVCu window, PVCu fascias and vergeboards, real brick front posts and guttering. If you don’t need those features, the standard Apex gives you greater freedom to build your own specification from a simpler starting point.

You Can Still Personalise the Deluxe

Choosing the Deluxe doesn’t mean every garage has to look the same. There are options for different wall finishes, doors, additional or opening windows, extra personal doors, alternative fascia treatments, partitions, extra length and drive-through arrangements.

I would start with how you intend to use the building and then add only the options that improve it for you. A long list of extras isn’t automatically a better garage if you don’t need them.

Get the Concrete Base Right

The garage needs a correctly prepared concrete base which is flat, square and level. I have always regarded the base as part of the garage itself because the quality of the installation above depends heavily on the foundation underneath.

Professional Fitting Is Included

Full assembly and fitting are included at no additional charge, subject to the applicable delivery conditions, a correctly prepared base and suitable access between the delivery vehicle and the garage position.

The concrete sections cannot be carried through your house, so if access is narrow, stepped or has tight turns, I recommend discussing this before ordering rather than waiting until delivery day.

10-Year Transferable Structural Guarantee

The Lidget Deluxe Apex comes with a 10-year structural guarantee which is transferable if you move home, subject to the manufacturer’s terms. I think proper manufacturer backing is an important consideration when you are buying a substantial building intended to provide many years of service.

For me, the Lidget Deluxe Apex makes most sense when you already know you want a well-equipped garage rather than starting with a basic model and adding several features afterwards. The Georgian Hörmann door, personal entrance, PVCu window, guttering, maintenance-free roofline details and brick front posts make it a particularly complete specification, while the traditional Apex roof keeps the overall appearance familiar.
