Choosing a 2m x 2m Shed: Dimensions and Garden Storage
A 2m x 2m shed describes a square footprint of 4 square metres, approximately 43.06 square feet. Each side is about 6 ft 6.7 in. The nearest whole-foot imperial size is 7ft x 7ft, about 2.13m x 2.13m, which is larger than an exact 2 m square. If your available space is strictly 2m x 2m, request an exact-size quotation rather than assuming a 7×7 shed will fit.
Is a 7×7 shed exactly 2m x 2m?
No. A nominal 7×7 shed has a footprint of 49 square feet, approximately 4.55 square metres. Check the selected building’s actual external dimensions, roof overhang and required clearances before ordering. Nominal sizes do not indicate usable internal space or required base dimensions.
What can I store in a shed around 2m square?
This compact size can suit gardening tools, pots, outdoor accessories and equipment that fits the internal layout. Measure bicycles or a lawnmower against the door opening and floor space. Shallow shelves and wall hooks can help organise smaller items while leaving a clear route to larger equipment.
Compare Suitable Designs in the Nearest Imperial Size: 7×7
Compare these eight designs using their 7ft x 7ft configuration. This is the nearest whole-foot size to 2m x 2m, not an exact metric equivalent. Select or request the 7×7 option and confirm the specification and dimensions before ordering.

Corner buildings
Corner buildings have a shaped frontage, so their usable floor area differs from a complete square of the same nominal dimensions. Bursledon is a summer room: compare its glazing and layout with your intended storage or leisure use.
Which roof and entrance layout should I choose?
An apex roof has two slopes meeting at a ridge; a pent roof slopes in one direction. A reverse apex changes the pitched-roof orientation. Use the model’s drawing to check entrance position, height and drainage direction. Plan shelves and bulky equipment around doors and windows, and compare the timber, framing, floor, and roof specifications before choosing.

Can I choose an insulated shed around 2m x 2m?
Optional wall and roof insulation is available on the listed Sapphire and Platinum ranges. Confirm the insulation and lining specification for your selected configuration, including any reduction in usable internal space. For an exact 2m x 2m bespoke building, ask the team to confirm both the size and available options.

Can I order a painted shed?
Optional colour paint treatment is available. Browse our painted sheds and confirm shades, finishes and maintenance requirements for your chosen model. Ask about samples if a precise colour matters, as photographs and screens can change its appearance.
Assembly Service, Base Preparation and Garden Access Information
Free assembly is included on all our wooden sheds. Have a suitable prepared base and adequate access ready for installation. Confirm delivery coverage and any location or access restrictions before ordering.
What base size should I prepare?
Obtain the exact base requirements for the selected building before starting work. Do not prepare a 2m square base for a nominal 7×7 shed without checking the supplied dimensions. The foundation must be firm, flat and level, with the required clearance around the building for installation and maintenance.

What access should I check?
Measure gateways, passages and tight corners along the route from the delivery point to the base. Tell the team about steps, slopes, and low overhead clearance so they can assess the route for the building’s panels.
