Not necessarily, and this is important to explain clearly. Many British timber sheds are manufactured in traditional nominal imperial sizes, so products appearing in a 4m x 4m shed category may have external dimensions which differ from exactly 4000mm x 4000mm.
Always check the precise dimensions on the individual product page before preparing a base or positioning your shed near fences, walls or boundaries. Roof overhangs can matter as well. I would rather a customer discover those measurements before ordering than after the base has already been built.
Which 4m x 4m Shed Should I Consider?

Can a 4m x 4m Shed Be Insulated?

I would not automatically specify insulation because it is available. If the building is mainly for machinery, bicycles and general garden storage, good access and the right internal layout may be more valuable. The specification should follow how you intend to use the building.

Professional fitting or assembly is included with relevant timber buildings displayed here, subject to the manufacturer’s delivery area, suitable access and having the correct level base ready before installation. Check the individual product page, as delivery and fitting conditions vary between ranges.
You will still need to provide a firm and level foundation. Because the products in this category have different actual dimensions, always build the base to the precise measurements of your chosen building rather than assuming every product requires a 4000mm x 4000mm base.
What Should You Check Before Buying?
After many years in this business, I would never choose a large shed purely from a photograph, headline size and price. Look at the framing, cladding, floor, roof, doors, glazing and available options, and think carefully about what you actually need rather than simply choosing the longest specification list.

My Experience With Garden Buildings Goes Back to 1979
I’m Robin Antill, founder of 1st Choice Leisure Buildings. I left school at 15 and started my own business in 1979, trading as Marina Sheds. I learnt the business hands-on by making and selling sheds, delivering buildings and dealing directly with customers. That taught me where timber quality, framing, floors, roofs and doors really matter once a building is being used year after year.
I sold Marina Sheds in 1990, although unfortunately I did not receive all the money which was due from the sale. It was a difficult business lesson, but I remained in the garden-building industry.
In 1992 we expanded beyond sheds to include summerhouses, garages, garden rooms and log cabins. As the business had moved well beyond Marina Sheds, that change in direction led to the name Titan Garden Buildings. My son Craig joined me in 1992 after studying carpentry at Guildford College from 1990, bringing his own practical woodworking knowledge into the business.
We sold Titan Garden Buildings in 1998 and in 2000 made another important decision. Rather than being tied to products from one manufacturer, we formed 1st Choice Leisure Buildings so we could compare quality buildings from different manufacturers and offer customers a genuine choice.

Why Does My Experience Matter When Choosing a Shed?
Having worked with sheds and garden buildings since 1979, I have learnt that two buildings which look similar online can be very different once you examine how they are made. I also know the most expensive building isn’t automatically the right choice, and neither is the cheapest.
My advice is to start with what you need the shed to do and work backwards towards the specification. If flexibility and bespoke possibilities are important, look closely at the Diamond buildings shown here. If pressure-treated construction, insulation and larger available dimensions are priorities, compare the relevant Platinum models.
