A wooden cabin is used mainly during the warmer parts of the year, but it’s a shame to close it down when the weather turns cold. The answer is an insulated log cabin as this will help to keep the cabin warmer all year round. There will be a bit of investment to do this, but the rewards are great with this added insulation. We can supply our 12×10 cabin insulation pack for you.
… more.
Our large range of cabins covers most sizes and models. All are quality buildings so don't settle for second best. You know it makes sense. These timber cabins are made from high quality timber and include double glazed windows as standard. Ensure the cabin is right for you.
The garden cabin is used for many things with the usual suspects such as storing garden equipment, as garden workshops or for keeping bikes and the like nice and dry. However it is rapidly being used as a haven away from the world by men and women.
And it not just THE shed being cleared out and converted, there is a rise in additional purpose built buildings being used for this purpose such as a log cabin and a 12X10 log cabin is a popular size.
The attraction of these buildings as a haven away from the day to day grind is probably the natural appearance of the wood. However, you don’t find many metal, steel concrete sheds used for this purpose as these can seem a little utilitarian.
It is possible for these to be converted but just needs a little more effort. The other attraction with timber log buildings is that they can be made in more or less any size to suit, certainly if you are buying from 1st Choice Leisure Buildings.
They are one of the few companies which will make a garden building to suit your needs and not expect you to take a stock size. Log cabins are a little more restricted on sizes but there are many options available. I think this is called living in the real world and having the belief that the customer is right. So if you are thinking of a special ‘bolt hole’ from the harsh realities of today’s world then it’s always worth talking to them.
In your garden den you can set it up to suit YOU. With a comfortable chair and table, the addition of a TV or radio or possibly with internet access you can be self indulgent and think of only you. Some buildings have been turned into little pubs so their mates can share your 12X10 den with them.
It’s also a place to go when you are in the dog house or a place to get a little piece from the ‘other half’ (this can apply to ladies as well as men – just sitting on the fence and getting splinters). If you are feeling flush you might consider a log cabin shed combination for the best in both worlds.
And talking about dog houses up in the village of Dunsop Bridge in Lancashire some farm buildings are being converted into a dog hotel by the Duchy of Lancaster. The piggery at Higher Whitewell farm could also be converted into a small dog hotel which would be used for visitors to the nearby inn.
Other plans include using an unused and under utilised barn and transforming this into a farm shop and cafe. The is a little small for the purpose only being 12 x 10 but it will serve its purpose well. Besides this a nearby large farm shed is likely to be turned into retail units.
The manager of the Whitwell Inn, Charles Bowman, said that this will be a very nice development and welcome as they have many guests who bring their dog with them. When this plan comes to fruition guests will be able to bring their dogs on holiday. They will then be able to stay in the renovated farm buildings, (the dogs – not the guests) at a very reasonable £20 to £30. Clearly this will appeal to many dog lovers as the dog in their family is an integral part of their family.
The custodian of this land, about 18,800 hectares across England and Wales is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and this includes many urban areas as well as farm land, outhouses and ancient farm buildings. This is not the first time, nor likely to be the last time, that out door farm and log garden building are adapted to different uses. Other redundant and unused garden and farm buildings have been turned into holiday homes and rural offices.
The income raised by the Duchy is held in trust for the queen and the moneys raised helps to pay for her official and personal expenses. No money from tax payers is involved.
