1/ Decades of Experience.
Lugarde has been producing the very best log cabins and garden rooms since 1978. And since then, they have developed their range to reflect the quality right down to the smallest detail. This dedication has enabled Lugarde to become the market leader in the UK and the Netherlands
2/ Bespoke Log Cabin Are The ‘Norm.’
They understand that all customers are unique and that their choice of cabin should reflect their particular requirements. Although there is a choice of standard designs, over 90% of the buildings supplied are custom made. That is the beauty of being the manufacturer, so every design and size is possible – even odd dimensions like 5.78m x 4.34m present no problem. AND the best part is that there is no premium for being fully bespoke. A Lugarde cabin delivered to Surrey for the price of their standard models.
3/ Show sites to View Their Products.
1st Choice Leisure Buildings, which was established in 1979, have a Surrey show site where you can see examples of these cabins. We can advise the customer and often suggest things that were not thought about ensuring the IDEAL cabin.
4/Many Extras Are Included
The general top quality build quality allows for many features to be included as standard. This ensures there are no ‘half measures’ or building ‘down to a price’ – NEVER a good idea. E.G. SKG approved (2 stars) three-point locks, double glazed doors and windows to keep the buildings cosy and pressure treated foundation beams and much more.
5/ Quality Of Timber.
The decades of experience which Lugarde has given them the knowledge to select the suitable material for their buildings. So they use quality sources of timber from northern countries as the cold climate ensures the wood grows slowly and subsequently is far stronger and robust. To further enhance this, the timber is then kiln dried in special drying rooms to approx 14-16% moisture content, making it ideal for the UK’s variable weather. This procedure reduces the expansion and shrinkage of the timber and its quality.
6/ Lugarde Log Cabin System.
On all Lugarde log cabins their sturdy construction system is used. This involves a crossover corner connection joint that both water and wind resistant. The is available in all three sizes of timber, 28mm, 44mm and 68mm. As standard the 28mm and 44mm have diamond-cut end effect. The much thicker 68mm boards have a double tongue-and-groove for enhanced stability and are supplied with straight cut ends. There is, however, an option to supply the 44mm logs with a straight-cut end.
Foundation beams are pressure treated and joined together with corner strips made from rustproof aluminium.
7/ Many Extra Options.
The amount of extra options appears limitless, and this further enhances the bespoke nature of these buildings. With choices such as external floors, sliding glass walls, full insulation. Impregnated internal floors etc. Please take a look at some of the buildings in our gallery to get an idea of what is available. Or chat to us.

The techniques developed over 40 years ensure the minimum of waste and any waste is reused. And if that is not enough, for every tree which is cut down, 20% more are replanted for the future.

The crossbars on these units are a simple click-in clip that is very useful when cleaning them.As standard doors are hinged on the left-hand side, however, at an extra charge, the doors can be hinged on the right if this is specified when ordering.
Lugarde Roof Type Options.
What of the consideration when buying a Lugarde building is the roof type. And there is an excellent choice to select from, such as an apex or gable roof, a flat mono-pitch pent roof or maybe even an asymmetrical roof for a cabin different to the norm. Each roof style has its advantages.
An apex cabin is supplied with the roof itself, its supporting purlins, along with a complete package of fascia board, metal components and all standard fittings. Also included as usual (and not an expensive add on option) are superb shingles (felt tiles), and these are available in a range of 5 different colours. Black, brown, red, green and blue.
The pent roof or flat roof comes with an EPDM roof as standard (again not an expensive option). This roof covering is a one-piece, highly durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane and is the only choice if you want long term peace of mind for your new building. It is highly resistant to UV radiation. Added to this, you will receive a wide aluminium roof trim, a water outlet and a bitumen kit.
The asymmetrical roof has two uneven sides and is supplied with a luxurious ridge cover of metal and roof shingles in a choice of colours – a delightful looking addition to most gardens.
Lugarde Wooden Cabin Treatment
When it comes to the appearance of your new cabin, it’s great to have options, and Lugarde offers three types of treatment. Spray pre-treatment, pressure treatment and painting.
The spray pre-treatment, commonly known as ‘factory finish’, treats both sides of the timber with a base coat primer. There is a choice of four colours; white, graphite, light grey and brown. This pre-treatment aims to protect the timber against fungus, which will help stop any rot. This pre-treatment is only a base coat, and you must apply a top coat within 12 months of purchase for long term protection. However, with the white, pre-treatment must be done with six months, and if you have a colourless treatment, your building should be treated ASAP. It is possible to spray this pre-treatment on the doors, walls, floors and roof.
Pressure-treating involves loading the timber into a sealed treatment container and then adding the fluid, which contains an anti-rotting and anti-pesticide agent. The container is then pressurised, and this forces the fluid into the wood. After this treatment, there may be some residual swelling, which may cause the cabin joints to be a little tighter when you come to assemble the building. They may be more cracks and splits with pressure treated timber. If you go for this option, you can select either brown or green.
With the paint option, the factory would apply a colourless undercoat. They would then apply a paint finish to the outside of the logs, any posts, decorative bases, balustrades, fascia boards, windows and doors. When this paint treatment is completed, your new building will be protected for a minimum of five years from fungus and UV-radiation. It also helps to regulates any moisture absorption. There is an extensive range of colours to choose from and include dusty grey, dark grey, pebble grey, transparent oak, pure white and beige.
Lugarde Log Cabin Insulation

To ensure optimum comfort for all year round use, you may wish to consider adding insulation to your new garden buildings. This would help keep the building warm in the winter and keep it cooler in the summer. You can choose from three different thickness of insulation for the walls, roof and floor. The insulation for the floor consists of 600mm x 1200m x 40mm thermal sheets. These can be fitted between the pressure treated floor beams. You would then fit your floorboards over the floor beams and insulation but ensuring there is an air gap to reduce the possibility of water transfer. With the roof insulation, this would vary depending on the type of roof. The insulation sheets are always installed on top of the roof and underneath the roof, covering on an apex roof. However, on the pent or flat roof buildings, you could install the insulation on the roof’s underside. If you did this, you would need to add a false ceiling. The wall insulation comprises an inner wall of 19mm T&G wooden boards. There are then pressure-treated wall beams that attach to the external wallboards. These have special metal clips utilised with these beams, allowing the exterior and internal walls to move independently.
