A metal shed for bikes installed at a Scottish village primary school has been equipped with solar panels as part of an energy generation project.

Classrooms at the village school in Glenelg, Wester Ross will benefit from renewable energy supplied by the £20,000 shed, reported the BBC.

Michael Foxley, chairman of Highland council´s climate change working group told the BBC: "I am sure the new solar shed will prove to be a big hit with the young cyclists and will play an important part in cutting down the amount of energy used in the school building."

Another way of making sheds more environmentally friendly is by giving them a ´living roof´ which helps preserve warmth as well as encouraging garden wildlife.
