A 8×6 summer house or shed is a worthwhile addition to any garden and will actually help to improve your garden. This is because of the many uses for which they can be used for and not just for storage and relaxing although that is some of their main uses. With the storage hat on your summer building will enable you to keep all your garden tools and other implements, seeds etc. on one confined location. This will keep your house clear enabling you to have more space indoors. Being in one space it will be easier to find your tools etc, except if you pile it full of items which you are ‘keeping just in case’. You will also find that this building will provide shelter from the elements as many gardening duties can be performed inside.
If you have a 8×6 summerhouse you can use the large windows to bring on those young seedlings before they are planted out into the garden when the weather warms up. Besides this sort of use the shed will allow you to grow fruit inside and this will be ready for eating much earlier in the year. This will save you money as you won’t have to pay the very high prices when home produced fruit start to come into the shops.
The 8 x 6 summer building can be used as a economical home office just by lining and insulating the inside. This will enable it to be used all year round. This in itself is a reasonably easy thing to do for a reasonable DIY’er and is well worth considering. This building will then give you the peace and quiet to work or to contemplate the goings on in the world. A clear winner for many owners.
It is possible to utilise your shed as a summer leisure area and would ideally need to be at least 8ft x 6ft. With the addition of a small fridge inside, a cocktail bar (if you are posh) and a little seating this may fit the bill. You can even have a barbecue set up outside where you can cook some delicious food (well usually). Having said that most people would content themselves with a cheap gazebo from your local DIY shed, such as Wickes, B&Q or Homebase.
The children would be delighted if you allowed them to use it as a play area. It goes without saying, or it should, that all dangerous items are removed so they can play in peace. In an ideal world you would buy them their own playhouse, which at the end of the day is just a small garden building. Nowadays these are made to quite high safety standards to ensure the children don’t come to any harm.
A reasonably large and decent quality shed or large summer house (bigger than 8×6) could be used as a home gym. Again this gives you an area where the equipment can be left in situ after your workout. You would, ideally, need a little higher internal height such as these Platinum buildings. They would need a strong floor and in a lot of cases the floors can be strengthened if you are using heavy equipment.
Other uses include using a 8×6 summer room as a hobby room where your activities can be enjoyed in earnest. By the addition of some simple furniture and a table or bench it can be a haven for your creative talent to flow out. Again this simple change of use is a viable option of the common garden building.
All this goes to prove that a 8×6 shed or small summerhouse, which can aesthetically pleasing, is a very versatile building for every home. The choice of timber is a good one as this seems to blend in with the natural surroundings of most gardens. Certainly worth giving it some consideration.
