✅ Spray impregnated doors & windows:
Spray-impregnation is a treatment to protect windows and doors against the fungi and rotting process. This treatment will take care that all parts are protected, that can’t be reached after installation. You can choose between a colourless spray-impregnation or one of Lugarde’s four translucent colours. For optimal protection we advise you to stain the windows and doors within one year. Attention If you choose the paint treatment for your windows and doors it is not necessary to choose the spray-impregnation. During staining a pre-treatment is included. Because Lugarde check EVERY order, this will be checked accurately in advance.
✅ Painted doors & windows:
Would you like to paint as less as possible? Then choose a factory-treatment for your window and doors. Because you want to enjoy your log cabin as long as possible, we will protect your windows and doors against weather influences. This is done by treating them twice with a spray-treatment as a pre-treatment and then by painting in the colour of your choice. With these three layers the windows and doors are protected against the ‘great outdoors’. They will use the Dutch quality brand Sigma paint. Attention If you choose the paint treatment for your windows and doors it is not necessary to choose the spray-impregnation. During staining a pre-treatment of spray-impregnation is included. Because Lugarde check EVERY order, this will be checked accurately in advance.

Tips On Keeping Your Garden Buildings Safe And Secure
On a very regularly basis there are reports from the police about break in into sheds and summer houses where many valuables are stolen. And the message they are always trying to get out is that these burglaries are preventable with just a little effort. So if you don’t want to be a statistic ensure your garden building is locked up as this will help to secure all your valuables, whether they are garden tools, bikes, sports equipment of power tools.
Simple steps suggested by the police is to set a timer in the house when you are out so that your lights come on and gives the impression there is someone in the house as well as the obvious ones about locking all doors and windows. Even on summer nights be very wary of leaving doors and windows open when you are moving around the house as it only takes a few minutes for someone to come in and steal some of your possessions.
My advice, where ever possible is to ensure that access to the rear of the property is kept securely locked and this will prevent burglars gaining access to the rear of the property. This will also ensure that access through any patio doors, when left open, will be unlikely. Besides helping to protect the house this will also help to defend your summerhouse from thieves as well.
Other things which you can do is do have prickly bushes along side your border as this will make it unpleasant for any body intent of gaining access. The downside is that you need to ensure children stay away so they get prickled. You could also install a shingle path as this will be noisy to walk on and would attract attention which intruders don’t want. An infra red security light will help at night as this would illuminate the intruder as well as bringing them to your notice. I have one of these on my summerhouse and lights up the garden before anyone gets close to it.
On your out buildings always ensure that it’s locked with a strong lock to stop anyone gaining access. And always ensure this is used as it’s very easy to get complacent. If the hinges and bolt are only screwed on then replace at least one of the screws in the hinges and bolt with a bolt and nut going through into the inside of the building. This will stop thieves being able to just unscrew the door.
Bridgewater Police have been working with allotment owners to ensure the security of their sheds and their advice can apply to your summer house in your garden as well. They suggest that all your property in your shed should be security marked. Some people suggest invisible marking but I believe that visible marking is far better as the thieves would know before he steals your property that it will be obvious it’s stolen when then try to sell it.
Valuable items should be photographed and are then entered onto a national database. This will make it easier to find their owners if recovered. However just marking your valuables with your house number and post code would be enough to do the same thing.
It was also recommended that windows in your summer house, workshop or shed should be covered so that your valuables can’t be seen. This in itself can deter a casual thief. It’s also possible to have a wall anchor onto which you can secure bikes, machines and the like. Ideally these should be set into the garden building’s floor but even bolting them through the floor is a great deterrent.
The bottom line is that if you don’t do anything then you may up ruing your lack of action, certainly when you count the cost of replacing all those variable items. Your garden out buildings are meant to be secure and dry areas so always make the best use of it and keep it locked.
