Aggressive Pheasant Captured in 8X7 Shed
The countryside is a most loved part of Britain with miles of open fields, trees, plants and SPACE. When you are there the mad commute to work seems a long way away and you can relax and be at one with your self. One of the attractions besides the greenery and plant life, like a massive patchwork garden, are observing the wild animals and birds. Thankfully these day we don’t have bears and wolves wandering around and wildlife tends to be foxes, squirrels, badgers (if you are very lucky) and deer. Beside these animals there is a massive diversity of birds from small birds up to owls seen mainly at dusk or night.
Birds can be observed from specially made sheds with small windows so ‘twitchers’ can look out and observe these wonderful birds. These buildings are normally made in sizes from 8X7 and larger. There are many game birds in this country which you are unlikely to see in your garden such as grouse and pheasants. These are regularly shot as a sport but are eaten as well. Pheasants are quite large game birds and can be seem around farmland in Britain whereas grouse would normally only be found on moorland.
Whilst it is nice to observe these birds in their natural habitat an elderly man has had to use his garden shed as a make shift defence against an aggressive pheasant which has been attacking him on a regular basis. The pheasant from a neighbouring field has been chasing 72 year old John Tucker around his garden.
Mr Tucker resorted to using his shed as a makeshift prison for a pheasant that attacks him on a regular basis. The use of its claws, beak and wings make this a very nasty experience for the harassed retired ornithologist. His leisure time in his garden has been curtailed as he has to wear strong gardening gloves and carry a stick to protect himself.
A plan has evolved and when he wants to use his garden then his shed becomes a prison for this bird. Mr Tucker has learnt how to trap the bird so that he can enjoy his garden. When he has finished for the day he lets the bird go. I think if it was me he would be on my dinner table and this would stop its game once and for all.
Mr Tucker, who hobby is the study and observation of birds was mystified as to why this bird attacks him as he has never known anything like this before. And he does know a lot about birds. His wife is also subjected to these attacks and the pheasant’s aggression.
Amazingly there are 35 different varieties of pheasants in this country and which are shot for sport. At least they are eaten and, in fact, are considered a delicacy by many people. But I don’t think many people would have to resort to their garden shed for a bit of peace. If you are looking for a strong garden shed capable of holding a wild pheasant then you could contact 1st Choice Leisure Buildings to see if they can help.
Star Wars Inspiration for a Garden Shed
Sheds in the garden are traditionally a man’s thing looking after all their tools, garden equipment and valuables. In years gone by the man often would set up a chair in the shed and with a can of beer, a newspaper and maybe a radio to listen to would be free from the worries of the world. At time as gone by ladies have also been taking it over, increasingly even having their own sheds for their own pursuits. Their thoughts (if I brave enough to say it) is if a man deserves a place of quiet and solitude then they do as well. Who am I to argue with that sentiment, certainly if it helps the sales of garden sheds.
Children who like to be like their dads (and mums) have looked down at the shed with wonderment and enviousness. They have seen their dads being masterful and in control of their world and they wish to make their parents proud of them. Dads being good dads realise this and are often buying a small shed for their children. Often giving them a little piece of the garden as well so they can plant some flowers or vegetables so they can appreciate the garden.
To meet this demands many forward looking companies such as 1st Choice Leisure Buildings have a purpose built range of garden playhouses, play dens and wendy houses. In essence these are miniature sheds designed to appeal to the younger members of the family.
Recently it was reported that a playhouse for a young boy was made from a 8X7 shed by adapting the shed in a military style. This clearly appeals to the young man around the home. Dylan, a four year boy, from Magor is Wales was clearly delighted with his new building as the styling makes it look like an army base.
Prior to the shed being converted to an army style building this building was used as a wendy house and enjoyed by his elder sisters. However, with the addition of camouflage paint as well as netting on the veranda Dylan can enjoy his time out in the garden.
The idea to change the wendy house was because the playhouse had become a little shabby and with young Dylan wanting something just for him the idea evolved to convert the little garden building.
Rob, Dylan’s father threw a few ideas about, including trying to make it look like the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars, before he decided on the army themed idea. Another obstacle in transforming the shed to the Millennium Falcon was the lack of timber and the fact that the thrusters would have been hard to come by.
In the end the army style was opted for with Dylan loving his new creation. His dad was so pleased with the end result he entered the 7×8 shed in the Shed of the Year. This just goes to show what a little thought can do creating a great play building for his son to use his imagination rather than relying on the latest computer game.
