Croydon Garden Sheds
How to Make Money from a Garden Shed in Croydon
Tomato plants are also easy to grow and can also be grown in pots or compost bags so, even if you have not got a garden then you can still grow some things. By utilising your garden shed for vegetables and fruit you can feel good with yourself knowing that you are using your assets to help through this difficult time. It’s also good to know that the shed can be more that just a storage building and can be multi talented.
Residents down in Somerset have taken this advice on board and have the belief that the growing of home grown fruit and vegetables is one of the secrets for long life. Montacute, in Somerset where the cider apples grow, was found to have the highest life expectancy in Britain after a study or millions of pensions records, with their residents living to an amazing 90 years old on average. Nearly all the village’s 680 population are active in growing fruit and vegetable in their gardens which seems to be helping to keep them fit and healthy. There’s no record of the number of garden sheds owned by the villagers but I would assume that most would have a small shed of some sort for storing their garden tools and for storing their excess produce.
Shirley Hann, life long resident and grandmother, said that it seems that the growing of fruit and vegetable does have a bearing on their health and long life. The residents in the village all have their own vegetable patch in their garden or a small allotment for producing these crops. Charlie Northern, another resident of the village, has been growing vegetable for over 40 years for himself and his wife and this has helped them to live a long and healthy life thanks to their garden.
It was only recently that the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) was offering tips and advice on how to use your garden and to benefit from your garden shed. The RHS have been offering garden advice for over 200 years to gardeners for people who want to use the garden to grow food outside and this applies to residents of Croydon as well.
Students Digging for Victory on Horticultural Courses
Students in Norwich who have been studying horticulture at the City College Norwich will be presenting flowers using their own tools from garden sheds or workshops. This will happen at the Bishops Garden summer fete when they will celebrate the opening.
These students will be selling plants they have grown using the gardening skills learnt and the money raised from the day’s activities will help to pay for these gardening students to enjoy trips away as well as other activities.
The college runs academic and job-specific courses for a variety of students including those with disabilities. Horticulture is an important subject as the use of the land for food is crucial to our nation and it was the land and our farmers who helped to feed our country, and help to win, the Second World War. This college runs job specific and academic courses for a great number of students including those with disabilities.
Norwich students will be showcasing flowers they have grown using tools from outdoor storage sheds, similar to these ones, when they open the Bishop’s Gardens in May. Besides the students offerings guests will be able to wander around the four acre gardens, play lawn bowls, enjoy this garden fete as well as listen to the local folk band, Backroom Harmonies.
Programme manager, Richard Turner (surely not of Emmerdale fame) was really proud and pleased to have been chosen to host the 1st event in the gardens that summer. He confirmed that the students had been heavily involved in the build up to this event and that the gardening skills would be used in their future careers. Their path can be followed by students in Croydon and is a well worth thing to be doing.
